According to Taiwan's "China News", Taiwan's "Epidemic Command Center" stated on December 5 that considering the slowdown of the epidemic and the steady relaxation of prevention and control policies, it is planned that starting from January 1, 2023, if non-Taiwanese residents are diagnosed with COVID-19 while in Taiwan, their confirmed isolation and treatment costs must be paid by the confirmed person.

Taiwan's "Epidemic Command Center" pointed out that the current medical expenses for isolation treatment or isolation treatment for people in Taiwan after diagnosis, regardless of their place of origin or whether they have health insurance status, are covered by the Taiwan authorities' budget. According to monitoring data, as of November 28 this year (2022), there were 260,929 confirmed cases among non-Taiwanese residents, accounting for 3.2% of the confirmed cases this year, of which 112 were moderate and severe cases. In response to the steady growth in the number of inbound tourists, it is expected that starting from January 1, 2023 (the starting date of quarantine for confirmed cases), the payment recipients for COVID-19 confirmed quarantine and treatment fees will be adjusted (based on the identity at the time of diagnosis):

1. Those with Taiwanese citizenship For those with health insurance status (whether or not they have health insurance status), non-Taiwanese residents with health insurance status, and foreigners employed in Taiwan (including blue-collar migrant workers, white-collar job applicants, missing migrant workers, foreign fishermen employed in the country, etc.), the relevant expenses during the isolation and treatment period for their diagnosis will be covered by the budget of the Taiwan authorities.

2. If a non-Taiwanese person without health insurance status is diagnosed while in Taiwan, the relevant expenses during the isolation and treatment period shall be borne by the individual.

Taiwan's "Epidemic Command Center" stated that relevant departments recommend that "foreigners (including tourists, short-term exchange students, etc.)" who do not have health insurance status are recommended to purchase medical insurance before entering Taiwan. They should abide by the current epidemic prevention regulations while in Taiwan. They can carry hand-washing supplies when going out to keep their hands clean at all times, and they must perform hand hygiene when returning to their residence. If you have fever, respiratory symptoms, diarrhea, or abnormal sense of smell or taste, you should wear a mask, seek medical advice as soon as possible, and do not take public transportation or go to other public places to ensure epidemic prevention safety.
