NGC 3447 contains a pair of mutually influencing galaxies. Located on the right side of the figure, more dispersed is NGC 3447B, while the smaller galaxy in the upper left corner is called NGC 3447A.

Astronomers are not sure what these two galaxies originally looked like. They are too close to each other and are affected by the strong gravity between them, causing them to twist into unusually unique shapes.

NGC 3447A appears to have signs of a central rod structure and some damaged spiral arms, both of which are characteristics of some helical galaxies . Some people think that NGC 3447B was also a spiral galaxy, while others classify it as an irregular galaxy.
