German team posted a photo of covering their mouths on Twitter and wrote:
"We want to express the value supported by the German national team through the captain's armband: diversity and mutual respect. We act with other countries, hoping that this voice can be heard."
"Forbidden us to wear armbands is like asking us to silence, and we will stick to our position."
The post also mentioned that this protest move "is not a political declaration" and "human rights cannot be negotiated."
and this protest is not welcomed by everyone. After losing to Japan in Germany, a well-known Qatar reporter wrote on Twitter: "When you don't concentrate on football, you will have this kind of ending."
German Football Association also spoke out after the armband was banned, believing that FIFA's actions were to coerce the participating teams. Steffen Simon, media director of the German Football Association, said: "The English team was officially told that if they wear armbands, they would violate the regulations, and they threatened them with sanctions, but they did not say what they would punish them."
He also said that other national teams that joined the OneLove armband operation would stand with England to show unity, but he also said that this incident made them quite painful: "We lost the armband, which is very painful, but we have not changed, and they still support the same value. We are not pretending to support certain values and then betrayed. We are in an extreme situation and under extreme threats, so we have to make such a decision."
The German Football Association also said that it would take legal action against the FIFA's regulations prohibiting OneLove armbands.
