Mahathir is also the founder of the Malaysian "Motherland Fighter Party". He said that because he did not win a seat, the Fighter Party was unable to play the role of the opposition party in Congress and had to give up the national development plan that was originally to be implemented.
"What the Fighter Party can do now is to examine the direction of the winning side's governance. We hope that no matter who is in power, we can solve the problems faced by the country." Mahathir said.

In mid-October, Mahathir, 97, announced that he would run for member of MPs in Langkawi, Kedah in the 15th national election.

Lianhe Zaobao said that in this general election, the ancestral formation led by Mahathir ran for 125 parliamentary seats, but the entire army was wiped out, including him, who was also defeated in the original constituency Kedah Langkawi, winning only 4,566 votes, and receiving less than one-eighth of the total constituency votes, losing the deposit.
Mahathir is the fourth and seventh Prime Minister of Malaysia and the longest-serving leader of the country. His last resignation as prime minister was in 2020.
