On November 16th, sad news came from the entertainment industry again. Taiwanese well-known director Zhang Zhiyong officially passed away at the age of 68.
Many people may not know who director Zhang Zhiyong is. Zhang Zhiyong is a well-known director from Taiwan. He has directed and filmed works such as " A Bird Screaming ", "The Sorrow of the Shahe River", and "The End of the Map".
1997, the feature film "A Bird Screaming" directed by Zhang Zhiyong for the first time won the Best Picture and Peace Special Award at the 42nd Asia Pacific Film Festival.
2000's second feature film "The Sorrow of Shahe" won the Best Director Award and Best Music Award at the 45th Asia Pacific Film Festival.
November 16, daughter Zhang Xiuqi posted a report on the death of her father on the social platform directed by Zhang Zhiyong: "Director Zhang Zhiyong passed away at home on November 15, 2022. His family is currently dealing with subsequent matters. The farewell ceremony will be notified separately. Please come and see off your goodbye."
Then, Chairman of the National Film and Audio-Visual Culture Center Lan Zuwei also confirmed the news of director Zhang Zhiyong's death.
According to Zhang Xiuqi, her father Zhang Zhiyong had heart stent surgery , but she was still very active in her daily operations. In Chiayi , there were elders who took care of each other. On the 15th, she called her father Zhang Zhiyong, but she did not receive a answer from her father. When she heard the news about her father again, it was the bad news of her father's death. After hearing the bad news, she hurried back to Chiayi from Taipei to deal with her father's funeral.
Lan Zuwei also posted a message on social platforms to recall director Zhang Zhiyong, saying that Zhang Zhiyong was a native film worker. He followed Ding Shanxi , Jin Aoxun , Wan Ren, Ke Yizheng and others as deputy directors. He always worked hard to execute the director's various requirements and was a good helper that everyone praised.
In addition, Lan Zuwei also revealed that Zhang Zhiyong had thick hands. In his later years, he heard that he went to farm and grew vegetables and fruits in Chiayi. He was used to walking and health preservation. However, as soon as he filmed, Zhang Zhiyong's body could not bear it and had five stents installed in his body.
Recalling the past, Lan Zuwei regretted missing the "End of the Map" directed by Zhang Zhiyong, and said that he could not see it with his own eyes, which is a pity. Finally, he sighed, "I passed away suddenly, I can't help but sigh, Amitabha!".
Director Zhang Zhiyong's death has left us with another outstanding director and artist missing. Many elderly artists died in 2022, which makes people feel sad. We deeply regret the death of director Zhang Zhiyong, but we also hope that director Zhang Zhiyong's family members will not be too sad. The dead are gone, and the living must continue to live well.
