early experience
Tang Jingzong Li Zhan, the eldest son of Tang Muzong Li Heng, and his mother, Empress Dowager Gongxi Wang. On June 7, 2018, he was born in a different palace in the east. In March of the first year of Changqing (821), he was named King Jing. In December of the second year (822), he was made the crown prince.
succeeded to the throne to Emperor
The first month of the fourth year of Changqing (824), Emperor Muzong of Tang died. In Guiyou, the crown prince ascended the throne, at the age of sixteen.
After Emperor Jingzong of Tang Dynasty Li Zhan ascended the throne, he did not take the national politics seriously at all. His entertainment was extremely excessive than his father Muzong. The second month after Jingzong ascended the throne, he went to Zhonghe Palace to hit the ball in one day, and then went to Feilongyuan to hit the ball in the third day, and then held a banquet in Zhonghe Palace, and all the fun was over. Jingzong blindly pursued pleasure, and even the emperor did not take the emperor's routine morning dynasty to heart. One day in March, the ministers came to the court to enter the cabinet to discuss matters, but Jingzong had not yet attended court until the sun was over three o'clock. In order to attend the court meeting, the ministers had to get up before dawn. The emperor was not there for a long time, and the ministers could not hold on and some fainted. Li Bo, the counselor, advised the new emperor, adviser, adviser, adviser, adviser. Jingzong, under the urging of the minister, came late for a long time. After resigning from the court, Liu Qichu, the left handed over to the emperor's behavior and tried his best to persuade him. He knocked his head on the dragon's wall and blood continued to flow. Jingzong was very moved at that time, but he still did not change. Later, it even developed into a rare court two or three times a month. In order to enable Jingzong to go to court to govern the government, Li Deyu, who served in the local area, presented six poems of "Danjing Zheng" and made suggestions. Jingzong ordered Hanlin Bachelor Wei Chuhou to draft an edict to praise Li Deyu, but he was still indifferent to his own problems.
Tang Jingzong's almost crazy entertainment triggered a series of emergencies in the palace. Shortly after ascending the throne, a civilian named Xu Zhongxin broke into the bathroom door, causing a false alarm. In April, another serious incident occurred in which the dyeing house servant Zhang Shao and the fortune teller Su Xuanming contacted hundreds of dyeing workers to enter the Youyintai Gate. At that time, Jingzong was playing polo in Qingsi Hall. When he heard the shouts of more than 100 people including Zhang Shao, he fled to Zuo Shen Ce Jun to take refuge in a panic. The Zuo Shence Army's envoy Kang Yiquan led his troops into the palace and killed Zhang Shao and others who had already attacked the Qingsi Palace and climbed to the imperial bed to eat. On the autumn night of August, nearly 1,400 people including the demon thief Ma Wenzhong and the rank official Ji Wende had another incident of misconduct, and all the people involved were killed by sticks. Emperor Jingzong of Tang was born with a preference for large-scale construction. After ascending the throne, he had a succession from spring to cold winter, and there was no time to stop. Officials at all levels and craftsmen all complained that the rebellion of Zhang Shao, the man in the dyeing house, was a blow to him.
Minister believes that these incidents are all because Jingzong is obsessed with entertainment and is often not in the palace, giving illegal people an opportunity to take advantage of. Jingzong believed that the ministers' statements were reasonable, but his own fun became more and more intense and his tricks were constantly being renewed. In November of the first year of Baoli (825), Emperor Jingzong of Tang suddenly wanted to go to Lishan for a trip. The ministers tried their best to dissuade him, but he just refused to listen. Shiyi Zhang Quanyu kowtowed in the hall to advise, and said, "The emperors who traveled to Mount Li since , Zhou Youwang have no good ending. Qin Shihuang was buried there and died in the second generation. Xuanzong was in the Lishan Practice Palace and Anlushan was in chaos. The late emperor (Muzong) went to Mount Li, but he died when he returned. " After hearing this, Emperor Jingzong of Tang aroused greater interest: "Is Mount Li so vicious? The more I do this, the more I should go to verify your words." As a result, despite the opposition of the ministers, he returned to the palace today. He also said to the people around him: "What those who kowtowed to me may not be trustworthy!" He did not take the opinions of his ministers seriously at all.
Tang Jingzong also liked to go to Yuzao Palace to watch dragon boat racing. One day, he suddenly issued an edict to the salt and iron envoy, saying that he wanted to build 20 ferries and asked to transport the wood to the capital for construction. The total cost of this item would take half of the national transfer funds that year. The counselor Zhang Zhongfang and others strongly advised him, and he agreed to reduce half of it.
Jingzong not only likes to play polo, but also needs all the soldiers of the imperial guards and people in the three palaces to participate. In June of the second year of Baoli (826), he held a sports event in the palace, including polo, wrestling, Sanda, fighting, miscellaneous opera, etc. There were many events and the participants were enthusiastic. The most creative thing was that Jingzong ordered the soldiers of the Shence Army to be divided into several groups, including the palace servants, the Jiaofang and the Neiyuan, and riding donkeys to play polo. Because Jingzong was very interested, he kept working until one or two o'clock in the evening.
Emperor Jingzong of Tang also liked to hunt. He didn't have enough fun during the day, so he took people to catch foxes late at night to have fun. It was called "Night Foxes" in the palace.
Tang Jingzong really likes to play, and he is really good at playing. It was a blessing that the Tang Dynasty did not destroy the country at the hands of such an emperor. Historically, Jingzong was regarded as a "no king" because he did not play polo, which was a competent emperor. This was a very proud person for him. We really can't see Jingzong's ability to govern the country, but he can see his ability to play everywhere. Jingzong is a master of polo and is good at fighting. He has always enjoyed watching games such as wrestling, tug of war, dragon boat racing. He also specially raised a group of strong men, who stayed at home day and night. Not only did he ask all regions to select Lishi to contribute, but he also invested tens of thousands of yuan to recruit the inner garden, and he was willing to spend money on these Lishi. When Jingzong was entertained, he had no scruples: some of the strong men were not rude, and Jingzong often dismissed them and kept them from being registered. Many eunuchs had minor mistakes, and insulted them at the least, and beat them at the worst, which made these people full of fear and resentment. The eunuchs in the palace, Xu Suizhen, Li Shaoduan, Yu Hongzhi, etc. were also demoted for their poor cooperation with him on "fighting the night fox". Jingzong's unscrupulous recreation soon brought himself to the end.
was killed and died
On the eighth day of the 12th year of Baoli (826), Xinchou, Jingzong went out to "fight the night fox" again. After returning to the palace, he was in high spirits and drank with eunuchs Liu Keming, Tian Wucheng, Xu Wenduan, and 28 other people from the batting army generals Su Zuoming, Wang Jiaxian, and Shi Dingkuan. Jingzong was drunk and moved into the room to change his clothes. At this time, the candles in the hall suddenly went out. Liu Keming and Su Zuoming and others conspired to kill him. He was only 18 years old. Except for Emperor Ai of Tang, who was killed at the age of 17, Tang Jingzong was the shortest-lived emperor among the Tang Dynasty.
After the death of Emperor Jingzong of Tang, the ministers were posthumously named Emperor Ruiwu Zhaominxiao. . On July 13, the first year of Taihe (827), he was buried in Zhuangling.
