After this consultation, Zhong Nanshan mentioned chloroquine phosphate when answering media questions. He said that compared with Abidol, Klizhi, and chloroquine , the average time for nucleic acid test results for patients with new coronary pneumonia who use chloroquine to turn negative is shorter than that of the other two drugs; but there is no strict comparison now, so it cannot be said that these drugs are absolutely effective.
In response to the statement that there are doubts about the dosage of chloroquine, Zhong Nanshan responded that the dosage used by patients is currently very low and is relatively safe. At the same time, he added, but be especially vigilant for some patients with heart rhythm disorder or cardiac conduction disorder.
The average conversion time to negative with chloroquine is relatively short

Today, some media asked about the effect of chloroquine phosphate, Abidor, etc. on the treatment of new coronary pneumonia, and what are the treatment suggestions for critically ill patients at present. Zhong Nanshan responded that some patients' condition is aggravating and they are facing a state of needing rescue, so use whatever they can. At present, there is no very strict and standardized observation and comparison across the country, but in general, if the drugs Abidor, Clizhi and chloroquine are compared separately, the average time for patients who use Abidor and Clizhi to turn negative is 6 to 7 days; the average time for chloroquine to turn negative is 4.2 days. At the same time, Zhong Nanshan emphasized that there is no way to strictly compare the large proportions, so it cannot be said that these drugs are absolutely effective, and further observation is still needed.
Some people have also questioned the treatment of chloroquine for the treatment of COVID-19, saying that the dosage is now used and some patients are too large, and some even pointed out that the drug will die suddenly after a certain dosage. In response to this, Zhong Nanshan said that in response to this matter, they have consulted relevant pharmacologists in the past two days and conducted extensive literature searches, and concluded that the patient's current dosage of chloroquine is still very low.
Zhong Nanshan said that this shows that the dosage is very low now. Some literature says that 2-5 grams or 3-5 grams can cause sudden death, which may be a large amount of oral dose at one time. "Our oral dosage is not that much, 1 gram per day. We consulted some pharmacological experts to discuss and prepared to make some appropriate adjustments and adjust the number of observation days. But this dosage should be said to be relatively safe." At the same time, he added, "(This drug) should be particularly worthy of vigilance for patients with heart rhythm disorders or cardiac conduction disorders."
Zhong Nanshan said that overall chloroquine phosphate is of some use. It has an existing theoretical basis, and in addition, since 2004, cell experiments have confirmed its efficacy against coronavirus.
It is recommended to perform antibody test

Zhong Nanshan pointed out that most of this positive refers to the positive nucleic acid fragment series. "So, antibody testing methods have been launched in the past two days. We need to do simple antibody testing for patients. What we need to do in the early stage is lgM and IgG discharged from the hospital. If IgG increases by four times, the patient should not be infected," Zhong Nanshan responded.
