2008 Wenchuan earthquake , Cai Maoqiang was in the third grade of elementary school. Cai Maoqiang's younger brother Cai Maolei recalled that after the earthquake, the family was trapped in the ruins, and both their parents were injured, and it was a soldier who rescued them.
"At that time, I thought his image was very tall. After saving our family, the uncle took care of us for half a month. When he was about to leave, my brother and I were particularly reluctant to leave. At that time, we cried and said, 'I want to join the army too'."
After that, the two brothers were determined to become "people like soldiers' uncles." In 2019, Cai Maoqiang joined the national comprehensive fire rescue team, and his younger brother Cai Maolei also joined the army during his college years. Cai Maoqiang later often told his comrades that "retrogression" was his responsibility, and he was rescued during the earthquake, hoping to pass on this love.
The brothers' decision was also supported by their families. My younger brother Cai Maolei said, "My dad said this is a particularly glorious thing. Although it is dangerous, someone will always have to do this profession. My parents support our choice."

"Once I saw that he had many scars on his hands, so I asked him if it hurts. My brother said, 'What's the matter with this? Where can the firefighters not be injured?' " Cai Maolei recalled.
Since joining the company, Cai Maoqiang has participated in forest and grassland fire extinguishing missions 14 times and comprehensive rescue missions 6 times. In August this year, Cai Maoqiang was awarded once for his outstanding performance in the forest fire fighting mission in Dazu, Chongqing. During that combat mission, he and his comrades fought for many days, always standing in front and never retreating.
