without authorization. The exhibition area can reach 6,000 square meters, occupying four exhibition halls 6, 7, 8 and 9 in the south of the National Museum, as well as the public areas of the third floor platform in the south, and the public areas of the corridor.
I heard that the works on display started from the Tomb No. 1 of Mawangdui T-shaped silk painting , and the entire art history was moved into the National Museum.
Han Xizai night banquet pictures, thousands of miles of rivers and mountains, female historical masters pictures, ladies with flowers in their hair, pictures of the night white pictures, five ox pictures, auspicious crane pictures... collectively made appearances, as long as you can think of works, you can basically see them.
, which is listed on the World Cultural Heritage List and among the eight world's world's grottoes, has also been moved to indoor exhibition. The exhibition
has been prepared for 17 years, and has included Chinese painting collections from 263 cultural and museum institutions around the world, and has photographed 12,405 pieces (sets), covering most of the "national treasure"-level painting treasures that have been passed down from generation to generation.
This is the "Prosperous Classic of Chinese Paintings" Exhibition.

On September 29, the "Prosperous Era Revision - the Achievement Exhibition of the 'Grand of Chinese Painting Series'" opened in National Museum of China . This exhibition includes three major sections: "Pastoring from generation to generation, protecting from generation to generation", "Eternal Painting and Treasure of the World" and "Innovation and Transformation, and Unbounded Realm". It uses multiple display techniques such as images, text, videos, and new media to present the great achievements of ancient Chinese painting reflected in the "Chinese Painting Series" of the Paintings of All Ages".

▋ Half-day view of the thousand-year history of Chinese painting
So many "national treasures" gathered together, is it dazzling for you to see and don't know where to start? The
exhibition is very attentive in planning the visit route. It presents it according to the perspective of the compilation of the "Chinese Painting Series" and brings together works at home and abroad, and is divided into four units: "The Great View of the Emperor", "The Endless Life", "Beauty and Beauty", and "Long-lasting Work", which fully reflects the state of historical changes. This is also the uniqueness of this exhibition from other exhibitions.

In the past 100 years, " Thousand Miles of the River and Mountains" has only been exhibited four times. As long as it is on display, there will definitely be many people queuing up to watch the exhibition. In 2017, "Running the Forbidden City" appeared when the "Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" was exhibited in "Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" in "A Special Exhibition of Green and Green Landscape Paintings in All Ages".
This exhibition is no exception. As soon as you enter the Song Dynasty painting part, the center of the exhibition hall is the magnified two-fold lighting special effect picture of "Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains".

"A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" is now stored in Beijing Palace Museum . If the volume is opened once, the dyed stone green and stone green may peel off, causing irreparable damage. After the Forbidden City took pictures on August 28, 1992, it has been stored in the warehouse for a long time.
opens it again, seventeen years after shooting in 1992.
In July 2005, the "Chinese Painting Series" "Hidden Chinese Paintings Collection " was officially launched. But at that time, most of the best image negatives in the Forbidden City were 4X5 inches, which could not meet the image collection requirements of "The Complete Works of Song Paintings". After repeated and careful research by the main leaders and experts of the Forbidden City, they finally decided to open the document and check: if a problem is found, immediately follow the emergency plan for rescue repair; if the picture is well preserved, it will be taken by the director of the Data Information Center himself. On January 5, 2009, the "Picture of Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" slowly unfolded the volume and showed its true appearance again. What surprised every expert present was that the thousand-year-old national treasure was intact.
"A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" is hidden deep in the Forbidden City. It is the "Chinese Painting Series" and the high-tech digital technology . It allows it to be transformed into tens of millions, satisfying people's desire for excellent traditional culture, and on the other hand, it reflects the value and significance of "Chinese Painting Series" throughout the ages".

"Chinese Painting Series" project team overcame many difficulties, sorted out, rescued and protected the precious heritage of ancient Chinese paintings scattered at home and abroad, and established a huge digital resource library for fine paintings of all dynasties, solving the historic problem of "hiding and using dilemma" of famous ancient paintings.

We used to watch exhibitions rather scattered, and we couldn't see works collected overseas. It is precisely because of the "Chinese Painting Series" project team that we can see paintings of the same dynasty, the same genre, the same painter and the same theme hidden in various places in the exhibition. Although all the works on display are copied, they are also very rare, allowing us to fully understand the whole picture of the history of Chinese painting and even cultural history.

This exhibition will move the history of art to the exhibition hall, turning it into a book that can be viewed, appreciated and read, making the book no longer boring. This is a vivid classroom for students studying art history and Chinese painting , and it also turns art history into a reading material for the public.
Pre-Qin, Han, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, let you have a thousand-year history of Chinese painting in half a day.

▋ Make cultural relics "live"
combines tradition with technology, which is a highlight of this exhibition. Through the latest technology, protecting artistic relics and cultural heritage, recreating them and digitizing them into virtualization is also an extension of the "big series of Chinese paintings throughout the ages".

in the gallery of "image fax" presents the 20-year achievements in the digitalization of cultural relics such as grottoes in the field of Chinese cultural relics. The five major grottoes in China among the eight world's grottoes are: Chongqing Dazu Stone Carvings, Gansu Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, Henan Longmen Grottoes, Shanxi Yungang Grottoes, Gansu Maijishan Grottoes, Gansu Bingling Temple Grottoes, Gansu Anyue Grottoes, Sichuan Anyue Grottoes, Hangzhou Lingyin Feilaifeng Grottoes and other representative niches are copied in proportion.

The Hangzhou Lingyin Feilai Peak Grottoes Group exhibited this time took less than three months from receiving the task to the final exhibition presentation.

This group of statues is Southern Song The 15th niche of the Great Buddha Bay of Baodingshan Grottoes "The Sutra of Parents' Gratitude is Deformed" The fifth grace "Pushing dry and wet grace", and was copied 1:1.5 times high-fidelity digital 3D printing. The original
statue is on a very high cliff wall and is not big, so it is difficult for us to see it up close, but by digitizing 1.5 times, we can clearly see the appearance of the statue and the degree of weathering. From another perspective, we are also telling everyone that cultural relics protection is imperative and that it is to compete with time.

This statue is the "Purple Bamboo Guanyin" statue of Bilu Cave in Anyue Grottoes in Sichuan in the Song Dynasty. It is a representative work of Anyue Grottoes . The artist also made the production according to traditional craftsmanship when copying, and it was a reproduction of the original. If you take photos and post them on Moments, many people will probably think you were before the original work. On the wall opposite it, the image of Shuiyue Guanyin gathered from major foreign museums is displayed, allowing everyone to see the relationship between paintings and sculptures of the same period.

enables replication to reach the archaeological level, which is the fundamental principle adhered to by Zhejiang University’s digital team. These nine exhibits vividly present the unique charm of ancient Chinese art to us.

Next, "light and shadow painting" will use multiple sensory interaction devices to travel through time barriers, break through spatial distances, and create an immersive painting space that spans multiple dynasties and integrates multiple fine works, which will make your eyes shine. Let the static ancient Chinese paintings "live" in the light and shadow, and also allow the audience to experience the beauty of Chinese culture while enjoying a new audio-visual feast.
▋ Go back to the beginning of the "big series" and the long 17-year compilation road
Today, and then trace the origin of the "big series", people see a peak of painting art in China and even the world - Song Painting.
Song painting has a unique historical status in the history of Chinese culture. It was the golden period of ancient Chinese painting. All kinds of paintings have developed to a highly mature stage. The development of hundreds of years since then has been developed and improved based on the Song Dynasty.

After thousands of years of historical changes, the number of Song Dynasty paintings has been around for about 1,200, scattered and collected all over the world. Museums also often regard Song paintings as treasures or collections. If several Song paintings can be exhibited in an exhibition, they will immediately attract high attention from the academic community and even the public. From

to the 21st century, a bold idea of Song painting was born: Song paintings scattered around the world will be compiled and published with advanced shooting, plate making and printing technology in a systematic and high-quality manner.
Hangzhou is the ancient capital of the Southern Song Dynasty nearly a thousand years ago. Zhejiang took on this job, which is most suitable. Therefore, an idea began to be implemented in 2005 and became a reality.
In this year, "Complete Collection of Song Paintings" was launched as the first phase of the "Zhejiang Cultural Research Project", and also started the editing work for a long 17 years, expanding from the earliest "Song Paintings of the Forbidden City of the Forbidden City" to "Complete Collection of Song Paintings", and then expanding to the "Chinese Painting Series" project.
The three years after the start of "The Complete Works of Song Paintings" were the most difficult three years of the project. For all museums, Song paintings are too precious, and every time they are opened, it is a huge challenge to the protection of cultural relics.

As the main collection museum of Song paintings, the Palace Museum in Beijing is the first selected cooperative museum in the project. Beijing Forbidden City collection Song paintings are about 250 pieces in volume. The Forbidden City in Beijing supported this project very much and agreed to provide a set of standard image materials of the Palace Museum at that time, , 4x5 inches, but the negative size at that time could only be printed with A4 paper size pictures, which did not meet the size requirements of the "Complete Collection of Song Paintings". What's more, the entire collection also requires a large number of partial enlarged images, spread-page pictures, etc. When the "big series" project was launched, it was decided to use a large 8x10-inch technical landline to shoot the original work as much as possible.
This means that the Palace Museum will open all 250 original Song paintings for shooting. Obviously, such a decision is an extremely important decision for any museum. After careful research, the Forbidden City decided to give strong support to the project and open the cultural relics for shooting.

The map of the Thousand Miles of the River and Mountains is now in the Palace Museum in Beijing
At that time, the famous Wang Ximeng The "Thousand Miles of the River and Mountains" has been sealed for 17 years due to the peeling of green color. The scroll was opened and taken for photos. After repeated discussions in the Forbidden City, it finally decided to take photos. The shooting of this cultural relic alone took more than a week.
The so-called everything is difficult at the beginning. The Beijing Forbidden City’s support for the project has also promoted the subsequent strong support for the project by domestic museums, and the shooting of domestic museums has been fully launched since then.
The shooting of domestic museums was smooth, but it does not mean that overseas museums can open the doors of the warehouses easily, allowing a team that has not done such a large project before to shoot their Chinese cultural relics.

Overseas museums, the project team first selected Japan, which is a country with a large collection of Chinese Song paintings, with a total of about 200 pieces in museums, temples and private collections. However, in any corner of the world, protecting cultural relics is the job of museum practitioners. Japanese museums have also maintained a cautious attitude towards shooting applications, which has also caused the project team to hit a wall many times. During multiple rounds of communication and negotiations with Japanese museums, the project team found that the Japanese side had doubts about the publishing quality of the Chinese team, intellectual property protection , etc. The
project team finally decided to start negotiations from important museums. In terms of intellectual property protection, the working group explained to the Japanese side that the "Complete Collection of Song Paintings" project had set up meticulous intellectual property protection measures at the beginning of its launch. Zhejiang University Press is equipped with a special production room and a 24-hour monitoring probe is installed. Passwords must be entered when the information needs to be moved, and 3 people must be present to witness it. Each link is strictly controlled to prevent image outflow.

From the perspective of image quality, in order to bring researchers and learners a clear detail of ancient paintings, many large-sized paintings are shot in segments and then spliced into a whole. The patterns and colors must be matched tightly, which is a great test for technicians.
, with the help of experts from multiple parties and alumni of Zhejiang University, contacted multiple parties, and after rounds of explanation and negotiation, it won the recognition of the Japanese museum, dispelled their concerns, and the shooting in Japan began to proceed in an orderly manner. Having accumulated experience in negotiations with overseas museums, the working group has carried out image collection and shooting work around the world.

In 2008, the "Complete Collection of Song Paintings" was finally printed, and the difficulties that the project team must overcome also include printing technology problems.

Yellow pendant Sketches of rare birds In order to allow each ancient painting to return to the maximum extent of the original brush and ink charm, ensure the exquisite printing, and perform multiple rounds of color proofing and repeated proofing, many times, you have to rush to the collection or exhibition site to compare the original work. In practical operations, they assisted in digital image color management through high-standard color correction methods; designed printing quality detection methods to improve book color restoration; used massive image resource management systems to support efficient book editing; the project team also selected a paper with excellent color restoration capabilities and unique feel from more than 20 paper samples through repeated comparisons. After entering the factory to start printing, the project team followed the machine to monitor the printing process. Once quality defects were found, they were immediately scrapped and reprinted...

In September 2010, the "Complete Collection of Song Paintings" was basically compiled and arranged in the collection site. It was divided into the Palace Museum volume, the Shanghai Museum volume, the Liaoning Provincial Museum volume, the Chinese Cultural Institutions Volume, the European and American National Volume and the Japanese Volume, etc. A total of 23 volumes were published, and 827 pieces (sets) of works from 102 cultural and museum institutions at home and abroad, systematically reflecting the overall appearance of the development process of painting art in the Song Dynasty for more than 6300 years.
Looking back now, the compilation and publication of "The Complete Works of Song Paintings" can be regarded as a stage where the entire "big series" project is struggling and opening up mountains and forests.
At the end of 2010, the publication of "The Complete Works of Song Paintings" came to an end, and the "Chinese Painting Series of Paintings in the Years" was launched. Along with the work of the past five years, it continued to carry out the "Complete Works of Paintings in Pre-Qin, Han and Tang Paintings", "Complete Works of Yuan Paintings", "Complete Works of Ming Paintings", and "Complete Works of Qing Paintings". It planned to collect and edit. More than 200 museums at home and abroad collect pre-Qin, Han and Tang paintings and treasures of Yuan Dynasty paintings, and select important representative works created by various schools and masters of the Ming and Qing dynasties.

"Chinese Painting Series" has received support and recognition from relevant departments and museums in various places, and all work has gone hand in hand. As we enter a new stage of digital museum construction, many museums have the ability to organize forces to carry out digital cultural relics projects.
has the outstanding level of "The Complete Works of Song Paintings" and its previous cooperation experience, overseas museums are also willing to continue to provide images of collections of Chinese paintings, or authorize projects to shoot. In December 2012, "The Complete Works of Yuan Paintings" was released. Until the second half of 2015, the total number of images included in the "Chinese Painting Series" increased from more than 800 pieces (sets) to more than 12,200 pieces (sets), and the collection of cultural relics was more than 15 times the original "Complete Collection of Song Paintings".

After that, the project continued, and the collection of high-precision image resources for Chinese paintings throughout the world has been launched. The fine cultural relics from museums and collection institutions around the world, and even ancient paintings in the Dunhuang Sutra Cave were collected.
to 2022, after a long journey of 17 years, the "Chinese Painting Series" includes 12,405 pieces (sets) of Chinese painting collections made of paper, silk (including silk, silk), hemp and other materials from 263 cultural and museum institutions at home and abroad, covering most of the "national treasure"-level painting treasures passed down from generation to generation, including "Complete Collection of Paintings of Pre-Qin, Han and Tang Dynasties", "Complete Collection of Song Paintings of Yuan Paintings", "Complete Collection of Ming Paintings", and "Complete Collection of Qing Paintings", totaling 60 volumes and 226 volumes. This is the most comprehensive and largest publication document of Chinese painting and imagery that has been included in the best works of similar publications to date.
