In 2007, Zhou Nan traveled to Tibet. In Koga Village, Pulan County, southern Ali Region, Tibet, she met an old man suffering from pneumonia. His life was in danger, but he didn't know how to use the medicine. After understanding the situation, Zhou Nan quickly diagnosed the old man and bought the right medicine in the local pharmacy, which made the old man safe.
The local lack of medical treatment and medicine deeply hurt Zhou Nan. "Tibet lacks doctors, can you come?" The Chinese language of West has caused a stir in Zhou Nan's heart.

In the spring of 2009, Zhou Nan graduated from Peking Union Medical College Hospital . She made the first choice in her life, giving up her job in the respiratory department of Peking Union Medical College Hospital and went to Tibet to work as a doctor. After learning about Zhou Nan's decision, both his parents and mentor strongly opposed it.
"There are more than 50 Grade A hospitals in Beijing, and there is not much difference between one more doctor and one less doctor. However, in Tibet, many lives will be saved because of my existence." Zhou Nan's attitude is firm.
In September that year, 27-year-old Zhou Nan took the train to Lhasa and became a doctor at Tibet Autonomous Region People's Hospital . From that day on, she devoted all her knowledge to relieve the pain of the people on the plateau.

The natural environment in Tibet is harsh. The Tibet Autonomous Region People's Hospital where Zhou Nan works is above 3,600 meters above sea level, and the oxygen content of the air is only about 60% of the sea level. Due to the severe altitude sickness, Zhou Nan insisted on going to the ward to check every day, "What if the patient's illness is delayed if he doesn't go to check for a day?" She dared not slacken!
There are many rheumatism and immune patients in Tibet, but there is no rheumatism and immune department in Tibet. Some patients who suffer from this disease, if they do not have the conditions to be transferred to the mainland for treatment, they can only go home and wait for death. Seeing this situation, Zhou Nan was very sad. "The problem of medical conditions must be solved first. We are not doing academic research, we will finish posting. There are living people in front of me, and I dare not stop."

In April 2013, a girl named Zhuoma was diagnosed with leukemia, but Tibet did not have the medical conditions to treat this disease at that time, and the relevant departments were even blank. Even though Zhou Nan made an accurate judgment, he still did not retain Zhuoma's life. Zhuoma's death further strengthened Zhou Nan's determination: to establish the first rheumatism and hematology department in Tibet (including the treatment of rheumatism and immune diseases and blood diseases) and never let the tragedy happen again.
It is much harder to create a new department than imagined. She began to travel between Beijing and Tibet, contact resources and learn technology. Zhou Nan's idea was recognized by her teacher, Zhang Fengchun, professor of rheumatology and immunology at Peking Union Medical College Hospital. Zhang Fengchun donated 1 million yuan of instruments and reagent equipment such as immunoassay instruments, fluorescence microscopes, and helped Zhou Nan establish a laboratory.

In 2014, a rheumatism and immunohistoric department with complete facilities and complete diagnosis and treatment technologies was built in Tibet, filling the gap in the treatment of rheumatism and immunology in Tibet.After the establishment of the Department of Rheumatism and Immunity, the first cases successfully diagnosed and treated in Tibet were set in the first cases: lupus encephalopathy, alveolar hemorrhage, thrombocytopenic purpura, hemophagocytosis syndrome, etc.
In this "young" department, there are only 8 doctors. Zhou Nan, who is under 30, started department management and served as deputy director of the department. "No matter how much you say, it is better to successfully rescue a patient in clinical practice." Zhou Nan said, "It is amazing to be able to rescue a patient from the brink of death, especially to inspire children's willingness to be a good doctor."

With a passion, Zhou Nan has been in Tibet for 9 years. Her figures are spread throughout remote areas such as Naqu , Dangxiong , Shannan , and she snatched back the lives of many critically ill patients with lupus encephalopathy and vasculitis from the hands of the god of death.
Once, a 24-year-old male patient was admitted to Zhounan's department due to arthritis. He suddenly fell into a coma on the night of his hospitalization. He was diagnosed with thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) through a series of auxiliary examinations. TTP is a clinically critical illness. Even if the mortality rate is as high as 50% in the tertiary hospitals in mainland China with plasma replacement support. Moreover, there is no condition for plasma replacement in Tibet, and the patient's life is on the verge of being alive.
"That is a living life! Even if there is only a glimmer of hope, we have to give it up!" Zhou Nan and his team did not give up. After unremitting efforts, the patient finally woke up and recovered very well in the subsequent period, and was discharged from the hospital in a complete relief. In 2017, Zhou Nan was named the "most beautiful doctor" in the country. The patient posted a message on his Moments: "All the thanks are beyond words. Today she won the award and deserves it!"
