As the ink making center moved south in the late Tang Dynasty, She County had gradually become the national ink making center in the Southern Tang Dynasty. After the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, the production craftsmanship of Hui ink has been continuously worked by craftsmen. With its excellent quality and superb artistry, it has won the recognition and pursuit of literati and poets, and has won many reputations such as "enriched skin, greasy texture, lacquer like lacquer", "a little like lacquer, and a true life", becoming one of the four treasures of the study that the world admires.
From Li Tinggui of the Southern Tang Dynasty to the "Li Mo" that is hard to find, to the "various schools and famous workers" of the ink making industry in Huizhou in the Song Dynasty, to the later famous ink making masters such as Cao Sugong, Wang Jie'an, Hu Kaiwen, Zhan Yunpeng, Chasenshan, Cheng Junfang, etc., push the Huizhou ink industry to the peak, Hui ink gradually became synonymous with ink, and the gorgeous and exquisite and carved Hui ink also became an elegant study and even collection with both practicality and art.
"Hu Kaiwen" was the leader in Hui ink industry in the Qing Dynasty and a great success. In 1915, the "Global Ink" created by Hu Kaiwen Ink Factory won the gold medal at the Panama World's Expo, making China Hui ink known to the world. This ink model is still collected in the warehouse of Lao Hu Kaiwen Ink Factory.
Just like Gujing Gongjiu vintage original pulp 20 was produced in the Ming and Qing cellars of the National Protection Ming and Qing dynasties, the production of some time-honored Hui merchants still continues the traditional ancient methods and the original production location.
The old factory of Lao Hu Kaiwen Ink Factory was built in 1956. Although it has been recognized as an industrial site, Hui Ink is still producing steaming heat. As the national representative inheritor of intangible cultural heritage of Hui ink production skills, , who is over 70 years old, still sticks to the ink factory and inherits the unique skills of Hui ink production.
