When they were about to arrive, they found that the Jin soldiers were igniting fire at the east and west hills. Halabadu led the cavalry to fight. At dawn, the Jin soldiers were defeated and took advantage of the emptiness of Taiyuan to capture Halabadu's family. After learning about it, the fast horse went straight to Xishan and took back his family from the enemy's camp. Soon, the Jin Dynasty general Zhao Quan's mansion led 50,000 troops to besiege Taiyuan. Halabadu rose up to resist, but the more enemies gathered, the Jin soldiers shouted, "Youhalabadu, surrender quickly." Halabadu replied loudly, "The important towns around Taiyuan have been lost. If I give up Taiyuan, what kind of face can I meet Genghis Khan and my benefactor Mu Huali? My family will let you do it, and I am determined to live and die with the city!" So, I fought hard and died.
