It is said that "one Yanmen Pass, half of the history of China", so Yanmen Pass has always been known as "the first pass in China".
Jiayuguan is one of the most famous attractions in Gansu. It is the westernmost pass of the Ming Great Wall and is also a transportation fortress of Silk Road . However, the history of Jiayuguan is much shorter than that of Yanmenguan, because it was built in 1372, which is the fifth year after the establishment of Ming Dynasty .
Before the Ming Dynasty, there was also a relevant entrance here, but there were no buildings. I just sent a few guards to check passers-by. It was not until the Ming Dynasty that the Guan Building was built here. The construction process was relatively long. Although Shanhaiguan is not as large as Jiayuguan, the manpower, financial resources and time spent on construction are far greater than Jiayuguan. It took 263 years to complete the construction.
