However, on the Internet of modern society, there have been many remarks supporting Ming Shizong and Song Yingzong. According to the "Instructions of Emperor Ming's Ancestor", Ming Shizong should have ascended the throne. What is Song Renzong abused Song Yingzong, so it is not for Song Yingzong to respect his own father.
The problem of Emperor Shizong of Ming Dynasty has been discussed a lot before, so I won’t be able to turn around here. This article is a prequel of Pu Yi. Let’s first discuss the issue of Emperor Yingzong of Song and his subsequent father and mother, and tell us whether the Renzong couple is more grateful than the fault or the excessive than the favor?
01, Renzong was unkind

Renzong established the identity of Yingzong as a prince during his lifetime. In other words, the fact that Yingzong adopted Renzong was to inform the world and ancestors. The Song Dynasty Inside and outside the court, including foreign Khitan Dangxiang, everyone knew that Yingzong adopted Renzong as his son.
But shortly after Yingzong ascended the throne, he had a quarrel with his elder mother Renzong's widow Empress Dowager Cao . The two palaces broke up so hard that they were almost strangers. Empress Dowager Cao cried to the ministers of the two governments that the old widow could not live, and Yingzong complained to the prime minister that the empress dowager had no kindness to treat him. The court officials persuaded this and went to persuade the other end. They really pressed the gourd and floated up, and were dizzy and exhausted by the two women.
So, why did Yingzong resent Renzong and his wife? Have you chosen you to inherit this brilliance?
History books clearly record that " Yingzong was four years old, and was banned, and later slaughtered Zhouyue; when he became his heir, he mostly won the favor. " ("Biography of Cao Hou of Song Dynasty"), and the history books also said that " left Qianniu Wei Daluo was a military minister, and was raised in the palace, and the queen was as happy as a son. If you only know how to copy history books without analyzing them, you will probably think that the Renzong couple’s good deeds to you, Yingzong, are stamped by history books. Why do you turn your back on others and become ungrateful after ascending the throne?
If you think so, Yingzong is indeed too unfair. Therefore, you must analyze the citations of historical books to find out whether there is a phenomenon of being taboo by the venerable. , for example, the two historical materials listed above and often cited by people are nonsense , which can be ignored directly.
Because Yingzong treats Renzong's widow and young daughter with ruthlessness, it cannot be said that it is just a unilateral problem of Yingzong. There is indeed the fact that Renzong is unkind and treats Yingzong coldly and harshly.
The fact that Emperor Yingzong was treated harshly by Renzong was both in "Song History " and "Changbian". How did later generations know that he was treated harshly? is known from the memorials of Fu Yaoyu and Fu Bi .
On August 27, the seventh year of Jiayou (1062), Yingzong, who was made prince, entered the palace for the second time. Because Renzong's obsession with giving birth to a son was not dispelled, and the eunuchs and concubines around Renzong did not support Yingzong's establishment, Renzong was very cold to Yingzong.
The emperor didn't care about his adopted son. The situation of the spare-developed prince in the palace can be imagined. The people in the palace all have a pair of rich eyes, and are used to watching people take food, holding on to them, and stepping on them. They are very mean to Emperor Yingzong, who is not favored by the emperor. They have many disadvantages in terms of diet, and the whole family cannot eat enough.
Empress Cao , who was separated from Renzong, almost lost her protection in the late Jiayou , how could he dare to plead for Yingzong to anger Renzong? She could do very little, that is, she secretly gave Yingzong's family some food, and there would be no more.
Yingzong was not only treated harshly in his diet, but his situation was also very desolate because the emperor treated him coldly, "people inside and outside, and even relatives in the old residence." No one dared to contact Yingzong. It can be said that he was simply a plague god that everyone avoided.
In this case, the Censor Fu Yaoyu wrote a letter to Renzong, advising Renzong to preferentially treat Yingzong : Since you have adopted another family, it is unreasonable to treat others harshly. You should treat the prince with family courtesy and let the prince serve him day and night. This not only reflects the emperor's love, but also allows the prince to show his filial piety.
Renzong was in high spirits in spring and autumn, and the imperial heir was not established. Yao Yu asked the wise men of the royal family to comfort the world. When Emperor Yingzong was the prince, he had a gift from the minister, but Emperor Renzong was unknown. Yao Yu said: "Since Your Majesty rebuilds the imperial heirs in the clan society, you should use the etiquette of family members to make the prince serve the meals day and night, so as to be kind and filial. Now there is a lack of courtesy, which is not the reason for the reverence of relatives and the foundation of the country." So the imperial edict was issued to have a very generous offering. Regardless of whether Renzong was really unaware of it, it was true that he was not concerned about his adoptive son Yingzong, so the people in the palace dared to treat Emperor Yingzong harshly.
Later, Yingzong ascended the throne, and the two palaces were in harmony, and the ministers mediated from it. The Privy Councilor Fu Bi submitted a memorial to advise Yingzong on the eighth day of the fifth month of the first year of Zhiping (1064), and once again mentioned the past when Yingzong first established a prince to live in the forbidden area and was neglected and harsh.
I also secretly heard that Your Majesty had first made him the prince and summoned him to the ban. At that time, the late emperor was talked about by the rapers on both sides and the others, without any small confusion. No one dares to communicate with or ask when his Majesty is in his old residence. Your Majesty's food was offered to him, and the Empress Dowager did not dare to take it lightly, but she was frightened overnight and had hundreds of deterrents to make plans, and many people were stolen from food. Therefore, from the memorials of Fu Yaoyu and Fu Bi, we can see that when Yingzong was appointed as a prince, he was indeed neglected and treated harshly, and Renzong did have unkind behavior.
However, still needs to dispel the rumor here . There are many remarks related to Yingzong on the Internet that Yingzong has been treated harshly since he first entered the palace, such as "leaving his biological parents since childhood, lacking love and lacking food and clothing", which is a statement that is insincere historical facts and is not rigorous.
Because there is no historical material, it can prove that Yingzong was treated harshly when he first entered the palace. At that time, he was just the emperor's nephew, and the young Renzong could not have a son until he died, and he had not fallen into that kind of despair, so it was impossible for him to treat Yingzong harshly.
Yingzong was treated harshly, and happened after he was made a prince and entered the palace for the second time. It was not that the first time he entered the palace was so miserable. How did Yingzong, who was adopted by his successor, vent his resentment with tits after he ascended the throne?
02, Yingzong was unfilial
March 29, in the eighth year of Jiayou (1063), Renzong passed away; on the first day of the April 1, Yingzong ascended the throne; on the fourth night of the April 4, Yingzong began to fall ill, the holy body was well on April 16, and the rule began to be governed on April 28; on the third day of the sixth day of the sixth day, he was sick again, and on the thirteenth day of the seventh day of the seventh day of the seventh day, the ruler of the Zichen Palace began to be governed on July 13; on the first year of Zhiping (1064), Empress Dowager Cao sent a letter to officially return the rule, and on the second day of the fifth day of the leap month, Empress Dowager Cao was forced to hand over the fubao.
Shortly after Yingzong ascended the throne, his usual resentment immediately erupted, and he began to release his inner resentment with eyes for eyes and teeth for teeth. Did he do those behaviors that were regarded as unfilial by ministers?
First of all, on the day of the Renzong funeral on the eighth day of April, he "calls away wildly, and cannot be a ritual". The funeral is the day when the body is officially moved into the coffin, which is also a ceremony that must be presided over as a filial son of the deceased master.
Yingzong was unable to be a polite person because of illness. Not only did he not fulfill his obligation to be a filial son, but he also made everyone anxious about his illness, and the funeral of the dead could only be handled hastily.
Afterwards, Yingzong was always ill. All matters of Renzong's funeral were held by the ritual officials. Yingzong did not attend, and even the ministers expressed their condolences to him, he did not show up.
Even on April 16th, Yingzong, who had been healthy in the holy body, still did not come forward to preside over the funeral because he was sick and did not preside over the funeral, and fulfilled his son's obligations. It was not until April 24th, Renzong Daxiang, that was on the 24th day after the deceased's death that Yingzong came out to pay tribute and rolled up the curtain to accept the comfort of all officials.
After September, Renzong's Yongzhaoling was built and his palace could be sent to the cemetery. As early as the third day of June, there was an imperial edict to let the queen Gao Taotao escort his father-in-law Renzong's coffin, but when the palace was started, Gao Empress was actually sick and naturally could not go.
On the sixth day of the 10th month, Yingzong went to pay tribute to Renzong's coffin and cried with Empress Dowager Cao to send Renzong's coffin out of Xuande Gate; on the fifteenth day, Renzong's coffin was placed in Yongzhao Mausoleum, and on the twenty-seventh day, Yongzhao Mausoleum hidden the imperial hall.
On the second day of November, Lord Yu of Renzong came to Beijing from the mountain tomb. Lord Yu was a wooden master god plaque carrying the souls of the dead. He was made in the cemetery and then welcomed home to worship the Taimiao. Along the way, in order to avoid soul confusion, the filial son must sacrifice to his god through sacrifices. From the mountain to Taimiao , a total of nine sacrifices are called Yu Buddhist.
Because the previous five Yu Shengs were on the way, Zong Zhengqing was sacrificed on his behalf. After entering the capital, the filial son of the emperor should go to sacrifice to him personally.
On the third day of November, the Six Yu ceremony was held for Renzong in 竹竹文. Yingzong, a filial son, did not show up and still asked Zong Zhengqing to sacrifice on his behalf.
On the same day, Zhizhizhizhizhi Zu Wuze, Zhijianyuan Sima Guang , Censor Wang Chou and others submitted memorials to request Yingzong to sacrifice to the next three Yus to fulfill their obligations as a filial son.
After receiving the memorial, Yingzong asked the Academy of Rites to discuss whether he should have been with Yu Renzong. Is this still necessary to discuss? Of course, everyone agreed with the suggestions of Sima Guang and others. Then Emperor Yingzong issued an edict saying that he would participate in the Qiyu on the fourth day of the lunar calendar.
However, on the fourth day of the lunar month, all the officials waited step by step for the emperor to come and sacrifice. When the time for sacrifice was over, there was no trace of the emperor. Then news came from the palace that the emperor suddenly became sick again, so he could not come. Today's Yu Ji was still sacrificial to Zong Zhengqing.
The officials ended the Qiyu in shock. Sima Guang, who was angry about Yingzong's words, once again angrily submitted a memorial when he returned to 年年 . However, no matter how Sima Guang ironed, Yingzong pretended not to see it. Anyway, he insisted not to participate in Renzong's Yu Sheng on the grounds of being sick.
Helpless Sima Guang and Lu Hui submitted a memorial to request the medical officer to be held accountable. Since the emperor said that he was sick and could not participate in Yu Ji's obligation to fulfill his filial son, why did the medical officer say that the emperor's six meridians were peaceful and he was not sick? Will the emperor lie? Of course, it was the medical officer who was lying, so the medical officer should be held accountable for his contempt, but Yingzong still pretended to be dead and ignored it.
After nine times of Yu Sheng, the ritual of the soldiers will be performed. After the ritual of the soldiers, the lord of Renzong can be worshipped in Ansheng and the Taimiao. Once the lord of the gods set up the temple, it means that the funeral is almost over.
On the seventh day of November, when the soldiers were crying, Yingzong, who should have cried, had no expression on his face and did not shed a single tear. At this moment, I believe that not only Empress Dowager Cao was extremely cold and angry, but the civil and military ministers were also mixed in their hearts. Yingzong didn’t want to do this job of face?
In addition to not fulfilling his obligations in the funeral of his father Renzong, Yingzong's attitude towards his mother Empress Dowager Cao in the harem was also extremely bad. He was not only disrespectful and filial, but also often disobeyed. He beat and scolded the people around Empress Dowager Cao at all, and was extremely mean. He also had no love for the five daughters left by Renzong, so he asked them to move out of the original palace for Yingzong's daughters to make a seat. This situation of almost breaking up began after he ascended the throne.
Facing such a cold and weak heir, Empress Dowager Cao, who felt so wronged, naturally had to hold power tightly and draw warmth through power.
The ministers also found that the two palaces were in a bad state. For this reason, as early as April 27, the worried Sima Guang could no longer hold back his letter to Yingzong, advised him to be grateful for the kindness of Renzong's passing on the throne, be filial to the empress dowager, care for his sister, and reminded him to follow etiquette and law and not to listen to villains' instigation to pursue his parents.
Yingzong was not seeing it, and the relationship between the two palaces continued to deteriorate. On June 23, Sima Guang wrote another letter to the Empress Dowager and the Emperor, advising the mother and the two to take into account the overall situation and pay attention to their respective images. However, no matter how passionate Sima Guang wrote in his memorials, unfortunately, under the control of personal emotions, none of the two parties could listen to it, and the relationship was still getting tense day by day.
The censors were really worried about the two palaces. Sima Guang and Lu Hui wrote letters many times to persuade this and that, but at this time, Yingzong no longer saw the gentle appearance of the past, and Empress Dowager Cao no longer saw the virtuous and kindness of the past. The mother and son were at odds, and the confidants around each other urged each other. The resentment between the two palaces became deeper and deeper, and it was even reported that Empress Dowager Cao had the intention of deposing and establishing her.
On May 13, the first year of Zhiping (1064), Empress Dowager Cao was forced to return power. On May 17, Emperor Yingzong issued an edict to restrict the rights of the Empress Dowager, stipulating that any demand for the Empress Dowager must be approved by the emperor before he can be supplied.
That is to say, if the Empress Dowager wants to find small things such as medicine, fruit bait, daily necessities, they cannot be obtained without the emperor's consent! Not to mention Empress Dowager Cao's anger, even the ministers were shocked by Yingzong's slutty operations. The Empress Dowager returned the power and you were so mean to be an old lady. It seems that it is not very authentic, right? Can you imagine that Jia She Jia Zheng dares to limit the needs of Jia Mu ?
For this reason, Sima Guang once again wrote a letter to Yingzong, suggesting that he give the empress dowager the highest-level authority and treatment to avoid affecting the emperor's reputation, and suggested that Yingzong and the empress give the power of the harem to the empress dowager. Obviously, Sima Gang was thinking about peach and thought with his toes, but Yingzong would not pay attention to his memorial.
03, the cowardly Empress Dowager Cao
How did Empress Dowager Cao deal with the cold and ruthless heir?
As early as April 16, the eighth year of Jiayou (1063), the Hanlin Bachelor Wang Gui submitted a memorial saying that the sacred body of Emperor Yingzong had been safe and requested the Empress Dowager to "respond to the power and follow the government."
Through Wang Gui's memorial, we can know that Yingzong's health was no longer a problem at that time, which did not affect his performance of the emperor's responsibilities. Therefore, he requested the Empress Dowager to return power, but Empress Dowager Cao only asked Wang Gui to draft the edict for return power, but did not implement it.
Because since Yingzong ascended the throne, the relationship between the two palaces has begun to be in disagreement. How could Empress Dowager Cao agree to return the power? But all officials were not used to Empress Dowager Cao, and Empress Dowager Cao was not capable of controlling all officials.
On April 28, the ministers submitted a letter to Yingzong to come to the court. Yingzong expressed his agreement with the ministers' request to let him go to work. From this day on, although Empress Dowager Cao did not remove the curtain, the ministers did not report to her.
On the third day of June, Yingzong once again said he was ill and did not go to work, and only met with the ministers of the two governments on a routine basis. Empress Dowager Cao continued to rule the country from behind the curtain, and the relationship between the two palaces continued to deteriorate. Sima Guang once again submitted a memorial to reconcile the relationship between the two palaces, but it was not effective.
With the various inappropriate circumstances of Emperor Yingzong in the funeral of Renzong, the relationship between the two palaces became even more irreconcilable. In the face of Han Qi's actions to protect Yingzong, Empress Dowager Cao was not discouraged. When summoning the priest the next day, she cried to Han Qi and others through the curtain and told him that she had been forced to have no place to live, and that her husbands had to make decisions for her.
Han Qi, who was deeply favored by Renzong, did not empathize with Renzong's widow. He continued to defend Yingzong: Your Majesty's behavior is all due to illness. When Your Majesty recovers, it will not be like this. If your son is sick, how can a mother not tolerate him?
Empress Dowager Cao was very unhappy when Han Qi said it. Here Ouyang Xiu Seeing that the empress dowager's tone was wrong, he turned on the fooling mode and praised the empress dowager's benevolence and sage virtues so well-known all over the world. Wen Cheng Empress Zhang was so arrogant, but the empress dowager didn't tolerate it. Now why can't he tolerate it against his son?
Then, Ouyang Xiu expressed his position to the Empress Dowager: Renzong was reigned for a long time and was believed by the people of the world, so everyone supported his designated prince to ascend the throne. Now the Empress Dowager lives in the palace, and we are only five or six scholars. If it were not for the implementation of Emperor Renzong's last wish, who in the world would be willing to obey?
The implication is that the new emperor is designated by your husband. We just do things according to your husband's last wishes. If you want to abolish and establish, we will not support it, so you don't have to force the emperor to do whatever he wants.
After listening to Han Qi and Ouyang Xiu's words, the cowardly Empress Dowager Cao could only remain silent. This is because Han Qi and Ouyang Xiu bullied Empress Dowager Cao's weakness. If it were Liu E , would they dare to say this?
Empress Dowager Cao, who was unwilling to accept this breath, couldn't swallow his breath, and turned to Privy Council to seek comfort: The old widow is suffering! There is no place to tell you about the pain!
Privy Councilor Fu Bi, Hu Su , Wu Kui After hearing the pitiful complaints of Empress Dowager Cao, he also stayed sad for a while, but except for persuading the Empress Dowager to relax, no one said what Empress Dowager Cao wanted to hear.
Through the attitude of the ministers of the two prefectures, Empress Dowager Cao understood that her path to dethronement and establishment would not work, and she even held power without giving up. From the attitudes of the two governments, we can also see the natural defense and resistance of the literati group towards women's rule. They would rather face the unfilial male emperor than support the empress dowager who wanted to adopt her son.
Empress Dowager Cao's words and deeds were soon known by Yingzong. Therefore, the first sentence Yingzong said when he saw Han Qi returning to the capital was: The Empress Dowager treats me without grace!
Han Qi replied without hesitation: Do you know so many wise emperors in ancient times, why did they just praise Emperor Shun as a filial son? Are other emperors unfilial? That's because filial and loving parents is very common, and there is nothing to praise. Only filial to those unkind parents can be called great filial piety. Your Majesty's filial piety is still a little different from Emperor Shun.
The implication is: Are you still embarrassed to say that the old lady is not kind to you? Can you be the emperor without gratitude? See what you did? Yingzong is not a fool, so of course he understands what Han Qi means. On the one hand, he reminds him to not lose his reputation, and on the other hand, he also warns him to be cautious and not to make public opinion too embarrassed.
In addition to the prime minister's mention, after the lectures began in December of that year, when the lecturers and lecturers told Yingzong about Confucian classics and historical experiences, they also moved closer to filial piety, reminding Yingzong to follow the example of a wise emperor and a filial queen.
Although Yingzong expressed his advice and had a controversy towards Empress Dowager Cao, the relationship between the two palaces did not break the ice. For this reason, Sima Guang submitted a memorial three times in a row, asking Yingzong not to treat one queen and five daughters of Renzong, so as not to lose the kindness of the empress dowager and the expectations of the people, but to join in.
In April of the first year of Zhiping (1064), the chief censor Wang Chou submitted a memorial to suggest that Emperor Yingzong appear in public. The excited Emperor Yingzong ordered the Taichang Liyuan to formulate relevant clothing and ceremonial guards. The prime ministers also agreed. After the Liyuan had confirmed the clothing and ceremonial guards, Emperor Yingzong said as if he had just remembered: This matter should be discussed with the Empress Dowager!
Han Qi went to lead Yingzong again. Of course, Empress Dowager Cao was unwilling to let this unfilial son go to the news and sit in the C position, so he used the excuse of the emperor's illness, and he was afraid that traveling was inconvenient. Han Qi ignored the Queen Mother's excuse: Your Majesty himself thinks it is okay to go out.
Empress Dowager Cao continued to find reasons: those plain ceremonial guards are not complete now, so let’s talk about them when they are ready. Han Qi said: These are all small things and are not difficult to do.
The depressed Empress Dowager Cao had no choice but to directly object, so he had to agree to the relevant departments to choose a good date in case the emperor went out. However, this time Empress Dowager Cao also acted cautiously and implied that the relevant departments delayed the time. After all, not every minister did not take the Empress Dowager seriously like Han Qi and Ouyang Xiu.
But Empress Dowager Cao didn't play long. On April 18, Sima Guang submitted a memorial to the emperor on a tour to determine the name of "seeking rain" and the date of travel.
Empress Dowager Cao did not stop the emperor from appearing publicly. On April 28, Emperor Yingzong prayed for rain at the prime minister Tianqing Temple and Fengquan Temple. Facing the new emperor who showed up for the first time, "the scholars and common people cheered and celebrated each other."
Then on May 12, Empress Dowager Cao was forced to remove the curtain by Han Qi, and the next day he issued a letter to return the government. Although the old lady held the emperor's talisman treasure and refused to give it to the emperor, on the second day of the leap May 2nd day, she handed over the talisman treasure under the pressure of the censors.
04, Hou Ge said
Did Song Renzong and Empress Dowager Cao really treat Yingzong without any kindness? Is Yingzong really just a grudge against his elder mother? Are the graces greater than the faults or the excessiveness greater than the favors?
From the perspective of the monkey, although Yingzong was given a place of harsh treatment after being made a prince, the sins he suffered were nothing compared to the benefits he obtained were nothing. If you don’t see that the heaven gave great responsibility to this person, you must first suffer his will? Yingzong is not as clear as his son Shenzong.
This is not to whitewash the good man Renzong, because he did not subjectively do not want to abuse Yingzong, but it was just an obsession with giving birth to a son, which made him unwilling to adopt the side branch, so he subconsciously neglected his adoptive son. The eunuchs praised the high and low to deduct the diet were just an adverse complication that Renzong ignored.
Of course, it is a fact that Yingzong was treated harshly in the palace, and it is impossible to make people complain. However, his ability to inherit the country and pass it on to his descendants is indeed due to Renzong's adoption and adoption of him.
