Huazhong University of Science and Technology Xiangyang branch of Huazhong University of Science and Technology is the Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. On May 26, 2017, the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Research Institute of Xiangyang Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Hubei Hanjiang Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd. signed a capital increase and share expansion agreement for Xiangyang Huake Equipment Manufacturing Engineering Research Institute Co., Ltd. Hubei Hanjiang Science and Technology Innovation Company is a joint venture between China Oriental Asset Management Company, a central enterprise directly under the Ministry of Finance, Xiangyang Guoyi Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Xiangyang State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, and Zhongjing Information Liantou Company. Through Hanjiang Science and Technology Innovation, Oriental Asset Management Company increased its capital and expanded its shares in Xiangyang Huake Equipment Manufacturing Engineering Research Institute Co., Ltd., introduced its strategic partner Wuhan Huagong University Science and Technology Park Development Co., Ltd., implemented a strong alliance to comprehensively build Xiangyang's investment promotion, operation, incubation and venture capital platform.

The second phase project is located in the area south of Dongjin Avenue, north of Yushan Road, and east of the inner ring east of the east line. The construction content includes the joint R&D center of the enterprise, academician workstation, high-tech R&D room, intelligent manufacturing workshop, academic exchange center, technology trading center, service center, commercial supporting center, talent apartment , office space, canteen, parking lot, greening, etc. The possibility of Dongjin Base being expanded into a branch, campus and settlement in a graduate school and experimental area is not ruled out.
Previously, based on the existing Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering of Huazhong University of Science and Technology of Xiangyang, the National CNC System Engineering Technology Research Center was introduced to layout a sub-center in Xiangyang. In the next step, national platforms such as the National Key Laboratory of Digital Manufacturing and Equipment Technology, the National Engineering Research Center of Laser Processing, the National Key Laboratory of Material Forming and Mold Technology, and the China-Europe Energy Engineering Center will also be introduced to layout sub-centers or sub-laborations in Xiangyang.
Currently, Xiangyang’s weak higher education resources are still far from its status as a provincial sub-center. We hope that Huazhong University of Science and Technology will strengthen cooperation with Xiangyang in the development of key disciplines, graduate education, etc., and seek breakthroughs.
