China Outdoor Golden Rhino Award is an annual selection event initiated by the outdoor sports professional media "Outdoor Adventure". Adhering to the dominant spirit of "real outdoor adventure, recording the marching outdoor China", it comprehensively evaluates the development status of China's outdoor sports in the past year in accordance with the standards of influence, leadership and value, and selects the most driving and pioneering outdoor events and figures. Since its founding in 2006, it has been successfully held for 12 sessions.

As soon as this comes, colleagues in the editorial department are busy with matters related to the Golden Rhino. Everyone gathers together to brainstorm what exciting things have happened in our outdoor world in China this year, and to sort out the outdoor adventure memories of the Chinese people for the majority of outdoor enthusiasts.

"Real outdoor adventure, recording the moving outdoor China" is not an empty talk. Although the sport of outdoor adventure is an imported product, it has taken root in China after decades of development and has blossomed and bear fruit with the unremitting efforts of the Chinese people.

We are not short of adventure spirit and explorers, so things that are worth remembering every year. Almost every year we can see new breakthroughs. In the field of outdoor adventure, we continue to pursue "higher, faster, stronger" in our own way.

Recalling the first Best Climbing Achievement Award in 2007 was awarded to Ma Yihua, Zeng Shan and photographer Chen Chen of the Gore Blade Ridge Mountaineering Team. They chose to climb the new route of the Yala Snow Mountain West Ridge in an Alpine style. Although they did not reach the top in the end, this spirit of exploring the new route without reaching the peak is very valuable.

In 2017, the Best Climbing Achievement Award was awarded to Azuo and Haoxin, who completed the route to the southwest ridge of Yaomei Peak. As a benchmark for A-style climbing level, Yaomeifeng covers extremely rich terrain and landforms such as ice cracks, deep snow, ice rocks, pure rocks, pure ice walls, blade ridges, etc. The two young climbers demonstrated extremely comprehensive and comprehensive climbing skills and levels.

At the same time, they competed for the award with the peak outdoor team that opened the "departure" of Xiao Gongga's new route, Zhou Peng and Gu Qizhi, who represented the Chinese people to complete the Smith route in the north of the Matterhorn Peak for the first time.

In the past 12 years, the Golden Rhino Award has been continuously improved, and the Best Outdoor Photographer Award, Best Backpacker Award, and Best Public Welfare and Environmental Protection Spirit Award have been established... We also hope that this award can shoulder more social responsibilities, be closer to the public and have more humanistic care.

Best Climbing Achievement

This award is awarded to the independent climbing activities selected from the annual climbing activities, which are the most exploratory and pioneering. We do not judge heroes by height, nor do we use resume as background. We promote efficient, clean and safe Alpine climbing methods, and encourage Chinese climbers to participate in groundbreaking climbs such as unreached peaks and new routes.

Hook Road Team: Created the first off-road vehicle rock climbing route in China, and with this as the center, it built a Hook Park that integrates off-road vehicle climbing, trail running, mountain biking, hiking and mountaineering and other outdoor sports, laying the foundation for the first place in Asia and the third place in the world.

Best Public Welfare Environmental Protection Spirit

This award is intended to encourage individuals to participate in environmental protection and public welfare activities in the outdoor field, so as to promote the overall environmental awareness of outdoor sports participants.
