浜-ing
Thank you Aunt Zhang for giving me this crowd test opportunity, and also thanks to Logitech for being able to design and produce excellent products that are so adaptable to iPad Pro shortly after the release of iPad Pro. So, can productivity tablets and productivity keyboards bring us productivity? Put the question mark here first. Adhering to the concept of fairness and justice, I will do my best to show the product regardless of its highlights or shortcomings. I hope it can trigger discussions among value viewers on the iPad Pro, its peripherals and the concept of "productivity tablet", and I also hope to see more and better products in the future.

html is responsible for network maintenance in an Internet company. He is a network engineer and has a better name called Operation and Maintenance Dog (laugh). People come and go in the city, working up and resting at sunset. People go to work, get off work, go out, go home, get up, and go to bed. However, the network around us is constantly stopping. Whether it is day or night, weekdays or holidays, network equipment is silently providing network services to people, and my job is to ensure that these devices operate normally. So, I'm also available 7x24 like these devices. Of course, it does not mean that I don’t have to eat or sleep, but that I can contact 7x24 and enter work at any time, no matter when or where. When I received work, it is very likely that I was not in the office, so I needed to work on a cellular network. I used to run around with a 14-inch laptop on my back. Someone once said that laptops are the dignity of engineers, but this dignity... is a bit heavy. Before, Auntie Zhang was very popular on the movie, and I dare not follow the trend, because my backpack that is about 10kg all year round has everything inside, such as a laptop, two iPads, mobile power, charger and cable, walkman, headphones, a few headphones, optical modules, markers, label paper, network cable, umbrellas, and a shoulder bag inside (for switching non-working states), as well as emergency food, wet tissues, etc. Work, entertainment and life are all in that bag, so I didn’t send it over and was not afraid of scaring everyone’s readers, but I was afraid of scaring myself.
Finally one day, I realized that if this continues, my old waist will be finished sooner or later, so I have to lose weight for the accompanying backpack. Apple released the iPad Pro this year and claimed it was a productivity tablet, which is very tempting for me. So can I replace both laptops and two iPads (one for one to go out and one game) with one iPad Pro? With this idea in mind, I waited from September to November, and finally waited until the iPad Pro was released. I quickly asked my friends to help me get an LTE version of iPad Pro from Hong Kong, just to treat it as a Singles' Day gift for myself (the LTE version was out of stock in China when it was released for a long time). After getting it, I installed various office software and thought about how to replace the notebook. At this time, I realized a problem: I need a keyboard, yes, keyboard.
So when it comes to keyboards, there are a few choices here, Apple's own Smart Keyboard, the Bluetooth keyboard used by Apple for Mac, and the B.O.W Hangshi HB099 full-size three-fold keyboard similar to the previous public test (http://test.smzdm.com/pingce/3502), as well as the Tuhao Choice HHKB Bluetooth version (I just think about this). I accidentally visited Aunt Zhang and saw Logitech come up with a keyboard protective case dedicated to iPad Pro. Isn’t this exactly what I need! I quickly submitted the public test application. The public test plan has used up all the 500-word limit. As the first time I applied for the public test, I actually chose it! The excitement is hard to express. Only by experiencing it carefully and writing a mass test report can I express my gratitude.
2. Unboxing photos for routine
After the New Year's Day holiday, I received the package in a few days. Although I have seen many packages in this style in other posts from other friends, I am still excited for the first time I got it! I'm worth it!
started unboxing time. The first time I was not smart enough, I got the wrong opening position and almost used an art knife to cut the side of the box... Later, I suddenly found out that it was opened from the other side.
attached paper is a very brief instruction. The packaging is very simple but it does not distort. Since it is a dedicated peripheral for iPad Pro, the appearance and style are also very important. The materials of the keyboard and protective cover are very thick, just a few streets away from those counterfeit Bluetooth keyboards.
Here is a detailed picture. There is an area made of plastic on the back cover with the product model written on it. It is probably used to prevent the iPad from sliding. The product serial number is also printed on it. The workmanship is very exquisite, like it.
So after unboxing, start to review.
3. How to use and feel
Follow the method written on the instructions card to align, insert, and combine the iPad Pro. You need to break it with some force on the right.
is quite stable after the fusion is completed and it is impossible to fall out. However, although stable is good, if you want to remove it, it will take some more effort. Another problem is that when loading and unloading, you basically have to rely on a little brute force to snap the snap on the right to the iPad. After a few more times, it will turn out like this:
plastic edge rolled up. I wonder if I will end up being stuck if I do this for a long time?
Put the iPad forward, and it will naturally attract it due to magnetic force, which will become like this:
after sucking it, and it should be that the keyboard is powered on (there are three small contacts in the place where the adsorption is taken), the backlight breathing light will light up, and if there is a virtual keyboard on the screen, it will disappear, becoming a small toolbar left at the bottom. This gives the feeling of an iPad Pro transforming into a laptop.
tried typing, the key stroke and key spacing were very comfortable, and the keyboard layout was not too difficult to adapt. Basically, the keys you want to press can be easily found.
There is a row of shortcut keys above the keyboard, which can adjust the screen brightness, keyboard backlight brightness, playback control, volume control, as well as the Home button and lock screen key. It is necessary to mention here that after installing this protective case, the original power and volume keys of the iPad, especially the volume keys, will become more difficult to press, so it is very meaningful to provide these shortcut keys on the keyboard.
Finally, close the keyboard protective case. From the side, it looks like this:
It can be seen that the thickness has increased a lot, and many people may not be able to accept it.
Let’s talk about another one. Since the iPad is a tablet, the keyboard is often not used, so we can put the tablet flat, just like the picture above. Yes, this is an ideal state, but most of the time it is used, this state is:
isn't it bad? That's right, it's just that, it will tilt to the side with a little force. If you use it, it will look like this:
is actually uneven. Even if the picture above looks like the ideal state, the screen will be raised with your fingers. In short, this is awful. If you try to play a game like cutting fruit in this state, forget it and hold it in your hands. However, as mentioned earlier, disassembly and assemble requires a little effort, so in fact, I won’t disassemble it often. When I encounter this kind of keyboard, I feel like I don’t need to use it.
So let’s get to the next level of instruction and experience. Let’s take a look at other similar products and then compare them.
4. Comparison test with good friends
Logitech is a senior manufacturer that makes peripherals, so I don’t need to spend more time introducing this company. Everyone should be familiar with it. Many of Logitech's external settings are also quite high-end. Let's not talk about the market price of iK1200 this time reviewed. Before that, Logitech should have released several generations of similar products. It just so happens that I have a product like this, called Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover. This is a keyboard protective case designed for iPad 2/3/4. It was priced at 499 yuan at the time, which was just right with my New iPad. Look at the picture:
Although I bought Air2 after my iPad3, I still keep this iPad3, which is just right for comparison. I'll talk about this later. What I want to say is actually another one, because the cellular data version of iPad Pro is a bit expensive, and I added SmartCover to get close to 8,000. My colleague, leader and friend strongly complained about why I bought an iPad Pro but not a Macbook, and why I bought an iPad Pro but not a Macbook (Important things twice). Because my iPad Pro is already more expensive than his Japanese version of Macbook (bought at 7400), and as a productivity tool, Macbook should be a complete victory. In order to complain about me more forcefully, he also brought his Macbook over and asked me to line up in the office:
From left to right, there are gay friends' iPad Air, gay friends' Macbook, my iPad Pro, and my iPad3. It can be seen that the iPad Pro is bigger than the Macbook:
replaced the Logitech keyboard for this crowd test. The iPad Pro instantly transformed and looked like a laptop:
It can be seen that because the Macbook has more trackpad, it looks like a piece of the lower body. In fact, when I use this keyboard cover, I often unconsciously touch the area below the space bar. I won’t say the reason, it hurts my self-esteem if I say it...
Lotech's keyboard and Macbook's keyboard are both backlit, but it seems not easy to see during the day. The keyboard is shorter and the feel is slightly bad. In comparison, Logitech's keyboard is closer to the keyboard feel of an ordinary 12-inch laptop, which is well received.
If you want to talk about productivity tools, I can also open Word, and iPad Pro is not false at all. The iPad Pro is more logically larger in resolution, but Word on iOS does not support dual-page display. After the iPad has a keyboard, it is also easy to edit documents.
There is something more regrettable about
. I tried to find an electronic scale to compare the weight between the iPad Pro and the Macbook after adding the keyboard cover, but I couldn't find it. So it can only be based on the feel. The Macbook is much lighter by the feel. In terms of thickness, the iPad Pro with a keyboard cover is almost twice as thick as that of a Macbook... I forgot to take a photo and let you experience it based on your imagination.
After all, iPad Pro is still difficult to compare productivity with Macbooks, but it is still good if you do some light work, such as sending and receiving emails.
Let's move the focus back to the iPad and keyboard, and let's see how the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover mentioned earlier will compare with its junior brother, Logitech CREATE iK1200 a few years later. First of all, the iPad Pro is a 13-inch device. Compared with a device with only 10-inch keyboard, the spacing is more comfortable. Furthermore, the CREATE iK1200 can get power from the iPad Pro, so users don’t need to worry about charging. The Ultrathin KB Cover uses Bluetooth and needs to be charged every 3 months. In fact, it won’t be too inconvenient if it is 3 months.
Finally, I recorded a video and spent all night editing. The original intention of this video was to compare the two keyboards, but in the end I found a very serious problem, which was even so serious that it greatly affected the user experience of the products tested this time. Then please watch the officials while enjoying the soothing music:
Thank you for watching. When I was trying to enter the Chinese characters "What is worth buying" in the video, I used CREATE iK1200 to have input errors, key stuttering, key order confusing, and random key swallowing problems. I need to keep inputting very slowly and constantly correct errors to finally get the correct result. I don’t know if other valuers who participated in the crowd test also encountered this problem. It was not that I didn’t find it when I experienced it before, but that I always felt that it could not rule out whether it was iPad Pro or iOS9, so I didn’t dare to make a conclusion. After comparison with Bluetooth keyboard, it can be basically confirmed that it is a keyboard problem.
is subject to conditions. I don’t have Apple’s official Smart Keyboard for comparison tests, because first, the Smart KB official website has been out of stock, and second, I have never seen a second person using iPad Pro around me, let alone borrowing other people’s to test, and I didn’t buy it myself, so I can’t confirm whether there is this problem with the keyboard connected through the following three contacts. The problem of
has made me depressed for a long time, so this review report has also taken shape relatively late. The comparison and evaluation have been completed, let’s enter the last part of this crowd test report.
5. The last part of physical keyboard and software application
is about what I wrote in the crowd test plan. Using software to check whether the Logitech CREATE iK1200 can become what Apple calls a real productivity tool? As I said in the opening question, I am a network operation and maintenance worker, and my daily work includes network monitoring, troubleshooting, network analysis, network optimization, etc. The software I often need to use is in addition to email and the common three-piece set of Office, as well as Microsoft's remote desktop and Get-Console software specially used for network management and operating devices. In addition to working, I also use some social software, such as Google+ and Telegram.
Given that the article has been relatively long, I have skipped some of the too detailed stickers.
. Outlook mail client: Because the company's mailbox is based on Exchange, using Microsoft's own Outlook to send and receive work emails is a good choice. Outlook is almost the first third-party email client to adapt to iPad Pro. After connecting the keyboard, you can long press the cmd (⌘) key to display the currently available shortcut keys on the screen. However, what makes me more depressed is that there is esc in the shortcut key list, but I didn't see the esc key on the Logitech keyboard....
. Word/Excel/PowerPoint: is also known as Microsoft Office three-piece set. After buying 365 subscription, you can easily edit and modify documents on your iPad. If the keyboard is connected, the biggest advantage is that the field of view is wide, because there is no need for a virtual keyboard. The part of the screen that was originally occupied by the virtual keyboard can be used to display more document content. In addition, shortcut keys are also very convenient, just like we usually use on OS X. For example, press shift+ arrow keys to select text, press cmd(⌘)+B to bold, press cmd(⌘)+C or V to copy and paste, press cmd(⌘)+F to find replacements, etc. These shortcut keys are definitely familiar to people who have experience in using office software.
. Remote Control Application: I mainly use two remote applications: Microsoft Remote Desktop Client and Splashtop. In fact, even the performance of a remote client after connecting to the keyboard is not satisfactory. The main problem is that the function key cannot penetrate to the remote host. For example, you can use Ctrl+C to copy, but for Word on the remote desktop, you can press Ctrl+B but cannot bold it. In addition, no matter how you try, you cannot use shortcut keys to switch the input method under Windows, so I guess that remote desktop and Splashtop use escape methods to implement shortcut keys. For example, if the keyboard is detected to press Ctrl+C or cmd(⌘)+C, then send a shortcut key to the peer system that Ctrl+C is pressed, and then the remote system performs a copy operation. Pressing the Ctrl key alone will not send the event that Ctrl is pressed to the peer system. So if you want to work with the help of a remote desktop, you probably have to open the virtual keyboard from time to time and select specific function keys.
. Social software: tested Google+ and Telegram. G+ has been turbulent recently because the client revision has become extremely bad. It is a very common user experience on iOS. It seems that not to mention the keyboard shortcuts that support iOS9, it is hard to say when the iPad Pro is adapted. Conscience Telegram is much better, with complete adaptation of iPad Pro, supports iOS9 input method, supports iPad Pro split-screen multitasking, etc. Finally, according to the test, although it does not support long pressing cmd (⌘) to display shortcut keys, I tried it and it seems that most shortcut keys will take effect. For example, the more practical ones are to use ctrl+enter to wrap lines and use cmd(⌘)+enter to send messages.
5. Professional software: I need to use telnet and ssh for work, and also connect to the serial port. The Get Console application is a software for telnet and ssh on iOS devices. Those who are familiar with using terminals should know that in the terminal, ^C is often needed to send ^C as an instruction to interrupt operations, and Ctrl+C here is no longer a copy shortcut key. In Get Console, pressing Ctrl+C directly does not respond, so it is estimated that this shortcut key cannot be penetrated similar to what the remote desktop mentioned before. But I found an option in Get Console, and after opening it, you can use the option(⌥) key instead of the Ctrl key. After testing again, I found that I could send Ctrl to the remote terminal and add any keys, which is also a problem-solving solution.
6. Endnote: Summary and Outlook
unknowingly wrote a large article, and the content was changed and changed. There were many pictures in it that were later dissatisfied with and deleted and reshooted. Some of the dates on the pictures were taken today on January 19th (the last day of the deadline). This is the double bonus of perfect cancer and the deadline warrior to have such a result. The video added in the middle was also edited with iMovie and then it took several hours to upload it. Then Aunt Zhang’s editor seems to be incompatible with Safari, and she often cannot save drafts. I thought I wouldn't be able to catch up with the deadline like this, but it seemed that it was OK. I won’t say much nonsense, let’s summarize this product:
Highlights:
1. High-end workmanship, solid materials, and high strength.
2. The key stroke is appropriate and the input is comfortable.
3. Rich shortcut keys and multimedia control keys with breathing backlight.
4. Provides all-round protection of iPad Pro without additional power supply.
Problem:
1. [Seriously] The input under the Chinese input method is very unsmooth, there is basically no problem with English input, and it is suspected that software problems.
2. [Seriously] When you don’t need a keyboard, you can’t evenly put it. You get the laptop attributes but lose the tablet attributes, which makes it troublesome to use it with your handheld.
3. [Heavy] Thick. Heavy. Thick. Sink. Heavy. heavy.
4. It is troublesome to load and unload, so you don’t want to disassemble it when you install it, and you don’t want to install it again after disassembly.
5. After installing the protective case, it is difficult to press the power button and volume button on the iPad, especially the volume button.
6. The price is not affordable. Although it is normal to set the price for iPad Pro with 7,000 or 8,000. This is a small problem.
7. The software's support for physical keyboards still needs to be improved. This is actually the business of Apple and software manufacturers. If you are too lazy to write it alone, just put it here.
In summary, this product may be very narrow-minded, especially if it cannot solve the problem of how to store it when not using the keyboard, many users may not choose it. Because although iPad Pro can be used as a productivity tablet, the tablet mode should actually take up about 80%, and the remaining 20% is a laptop-like model. Most of the time when you can solve the problem by just a few fingers, you won’t think about expanding the iPad Pro into laptop mode. Another question I mentioned is the question that my friend mentioned. An iPad Pro plus this keyboard has exceeded the price of a Macbook. For those who need lightweight office work, what reason is there not to choose a Macbook?
As of now, if iPad Pro plus physical keyboard wants to take over most of the work of laptops, it is still a long way to go. This requires Apple and software and hardware manufacturers to continuously improve their products, improve the application ecosystem of iPad Pro, and launch more products and software suitable for the needs of various groups. So can the iPad Pro+Logitech CREATE iK1200 become a productivity tool? This is back to the question. Personally, I think it is too early to say whether it is OK or not. iPad Pro is a new thing, and Logitech's CREATE iK1200 keyboard is also a new attempt. Whether it works or not, it will ultimately depend on the market and time to test it.
What is the website worth buying in this article (www.smzdm.com).
