Every winter, London's Natural History Museum, Hampton Palace, Tower of London and other iconic attractions will create an ice rink. Many of them are popular among London citizens because of their superior geographical location and beautiful environment. No need to envy other people’s ice rinks anymore! Recently, the South Square of Magnolia Square in Hongkou District has turned into an ice rink, and the second Shanghai Bailan Yu International Ice and Snow Festival is being held here. On December 31st, welcoming the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing - Shanghai Magnolia Citizen Figure Skating Grand Prix, adding a festive atmosphere to the Ice and Snow Festival.
Magnolia Ice Rink The 1200 square meters of real ice rink is crystal clear under the light; the other side is the night view of Lujiazui, Pudong, which complements each other. The unique geographical location allows citizens skating here to see the "three high-rise buildings" in Lujiazui - Shanghai Center, Oriental Pearl, and Shanghai Global Financial Center. No wonder some people call it "the most beautiful ice skating rink in Shanghai".

9-year-old Yu Tiancheng is the champion of the men's singles figure skating children's group in this year's Citizens' Sports Games. He usually trains indoors and tries to skate outdoors for the first time. "The weather is a bit cold, but it's very enjoyable to compete in such a large real ice rink outdoors. And the first time I saw the night view of Pudong, it's very fresh!"
Yu Tiancheng's coach Ma Xiaodong once won the World Figure Skating Youth Championship and is currently the training director of the All-Star Skating Club. This time he was invited to become the chief referee of the event. "Figure skating can show strength and beauty, and the requirements for body flexibility and muscle strength are stronger than ordinary sports. It is recommended that young people come to experience ice and snow sports, and while learning skills, they can exercise their will and shape their character."

From last year's Basketball World Cup to transform into a basketball court, to this year's Citizens' Sports Games into a tennis court, and then to transform into an ice skating rink this winter, the "Sports +" mode of Magnolia Square has become a highlight of the North Bund. The relevant person in charge of the organizer said that the International Ice and Snow Festival responds to the call of "300 million people participating in ice and snow sports" through "all people participating and all employees' entertainment", which can popularize the spirit of the Winter Olympics and stimulate the public's interest and enthusiasm for ice and snow sports. In the future, we hope to build the International Ice and Snow Festival into a Hongkou District National Fitness Brand Event, and make the Citizen Figure Skating Grand Prix a regular sports event every year.

It is reported that the Magnolia skating rink will be open until early March 2021. So far, this Magnolia International Ice and Snow Festival has received active participation from the general public and many domestic and foreign brands have competed to join and support. In recent years, Shanghai Magnolia Plaza has explored the combination of sports and cultural industries with commercial real estate, with all-round cooperation and multi-level development, and has successfully held a number of sports activities, combining sports consumption, advocating a healthy life for the whole people, forming a unique form of commercial culture. Shanghai Magnolia Plaza has also become a holy place for internet celebrities to check in, gatherings of relatives and friends, parent-child time, and romantic dates.

International Ice and Snow Festival is a critical period for winter epidemic prevention and control. The organizers strengthen their sense of responsibility for epidemic prevention and control, refine specific epidemic prevention measures, and prepare epidemic prevention materials such as forehead thermometers, disinfectant water, hand sanitizers and other epidemic prevention materials on site, and measure temperatures for athletes and citizens entering the ice rink, as well as verify health codes and itinerary codes, and strictly avoid people from participating in competitions in medium and high-risk areas. The entire event advocates no handshake, no close interaction or group photos to ensure that the event is carried out safely and in an orderly manner.
