According to Taiwanese media reports, in order to promote the "Taipei Tong" APP, Taipei City has tied many public services provided by the city government into the APP. Taipei City Councilman Miao Boya therefore initiated the rejection of "Taipei Tong" forcibly promoting the public's re-signation, and more than 12,000 people have re-signed. This incident not only triggered artillery fire between Miao and Mayor Ke Wen-je, but also sparked debate on the Internet. One group of netizens believed that public services should not be monopolized by "Taipei Tong", and another group of netizens believed that the unified use of "Taipei Tong" would help efficiency and criticize Miao for making a show.
Miao Boya posted on Facebook on the 24th, pointing out that the Taipei City Government has used various administrative means in the past year to "bound the public services provided by the city government into Taipei Pass", which has forced many people to register for "Taipei Pass" in order to obtain public services. However, "Taipei Pass" originally had doubts such as privacy and digital footprints, and the city government forced sales methods, which aroused public doubts and public grievances.
Miao Boya said that she had questioned the Taipei Municipal Information Bureau as early as May 29, 2020, and asked Ke Wen-je on November 11, 2021, and officially proposed the 2022 Taipei Municipal Government General Budget Comprehensive Resolution on December 23 of the same year, prohibiting the municipal government from forcing the sale of "Taipei Tong", which was passed. However, because the city government and some members of the council opposed entering party consultation, there was no consensus reached during the four consultations. Therefore, she initiated the "Reject Taipei Tong for forced sale" on January 20.
This activity has now exceeded 12,000 people signed, but it has triggered a debate on the positive and negative aspects. Netizens flocked to relevant links of Taiwan media to leave comments: "I think it is quite reasonable. There should be more diverse ways to facilitate the people." "It is not necessary to force it. Public affairs should not be bound to the only way." "12,000 people can overturn a policy, and there are 2.5 million people in Taipei. Should everyone come to vote? This is democracy!" "What is the case with the green camp and its flanks repeatedly rejecting Taipei Tong?" "Everyone with discerning eyes knows that Miao Boya is making a show. If the mayor changes his color today, it will definitely not be like this."
