Anding District Shimen Reservoir is located in Fujiagou, the upper reaches of the Xihe River tributary of the Yellow River, Zuli River , 40 kilometers away from the urban area of Dingxi . It is a comprehensive reservoir mainly for flood control and irrigation. It controls the basin area of 49.2 square kilometers and is a small (1) type reservoir. The construction of the
reservoir started in May 1975. At the end of 1979, the project of the water conservancy hub was basically completed. The field supporting facilities in the irrigation area were completed in 1983. The reservoir hub consists of three parts: river dam , flood discharge bottom pit, and water transport pipe. Shimen Reservoir is a homogeneous earth dam. In 2007, the dangerous reservoir was removed and reinforced. The reinforced dam wave-proof wall top elevation is 2216.3 meters, the dam top elevation is 2215.1 meters, the dam height is 25.5 meters, the dam top width is 6 meters, the dam length is 154 meters, the storage capacity is 23.24 million cubic meters, and the designed irrigation area is 5,000 mu.
