The plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China is referred to as the "Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China" or the "Plenary Session of the Central Committee". According to convention, the Central Plenary Session is usually held in the second half of each year. Therefore, each Central Committee usually holds at least five plenary sessions during its five-year term.

Looking at the previous National Congress of the Party, although the system of convening the Central Plenary Session has been established in terms of laws and regulations since the beginning of the birth of the Party, it has actually failed to operate normally and effectively in several periods after the founding of New China, and even several periods of time have not been held for many years. Some of them were six years apart, and the Eighth National Congress held three central plenary sessions within half a year in 1958.
