Greece Athens ——Greece authorities accused Turkey of forcing 92 refugees into Greece and stripping them naked before doing so.
Greek police said police found the refugees naked on Friday, "some were physically injured" and they entered the country using plastic boats to cross the Evros River, which is the border between the two countries.
refugees told police and officers of Frontex, the EU border agency, that Turkish authorities forced them to board three vehicles and took them to the border. Immigrants testified that they were forced to strip naked before boarding the ship.
Police said it provided clothes and food for immigrants.
Greek Ministry of Asylum and Refugees said on Saturday: “Turkey’s provocative behavior exceeds all restrictions.”
Immigration Minister Notis Mitarachi posted a photo of naked immigrants on his Twitter account on Saturday, commenting in Greek and English: “Türkiye is a shame for civilization to the actions of 92 migrants rescued at the border (yesterday). We look forward to Ankara investigating the incident and ultimately protecting its border with the EU.”
Turkey often accuses Greece of violently repelling immigrants entering the country by land and sea, while Greece accused Turkey of “pushing” immigration to put pressure on the EU.
Most immigrants come from Afghanistan and Syria , and a few come from other countries.
