On December 8, the groundbreaking ceremony of the Dongguan Biotechnology Industry Building Project was held in Songshan Lake High-tech Zone. The start of the project marks a new beginning of the development of Songshan Lake's bio-pharmaceutical industry and moves towards a more professional and systematic direction. The project planned a total construction area of nearly 400,000 square meters, with a total investment of over 2 billion yuan. As soon as it started construction, it won the favor of a number of projects such as Jinyu Medicine, Boji Pharmaceuticals, and Yongsheng Medical. At the signing ceremony, the intended lease area was about 25,000 square meters.
Dongguan Biotechnology Industry Building Project (Songhu Pharmaceutical Port Industrial Park) was listed as a major project in Dongguan in 2021 and is a biotechnology theme park focused on building by Songshan Lake. It is invested and developed by Dongguan Biotechnology Industry Development Co., Ltd., a state-owned wholly-owned enterprise under the Songshan Lake Management Committee. It is positioned as a Dongguan Bioindustry Center Park and is constructed with high standards, high quality and professional standards.
project is located on the southwest side of Taichung Road, Taiwan High-tech Park, Songshan Lake, Dongguan City (Dalang Entrance and Exit of Dalang, Guanshen Expressway). It is the central area of Songshan Lake Biomedical Industry Base. The total land area of the project is 111,000 square meters, the planned total construction area is nearly 400,000 square meters, and the total investment exceeds 2 billion yuan. It is composed of the headquarters office building and a single-family R&D office pilot production building and commercial and residential supporting facilities. The project is constructed in two phases, with a total construction area of about 120,000 square meters in the first phase, including 6 scientific research buildings and related supporting projects. After the completion of the industrial park, it will focus on providing comprehensive supporting services such as headquarters office, R&D laboratories, biological industry incubation, public service platforms and commercial and residential finance for big health enterprises such as biomedicine, medical devices, and biological services.
According to Song Tao, chairman of Dongguan Biotechnology Industry Development Co., Ltd., after the completion of the Biotechnology Building, a number of innovative, entrepreneurial, and high-growth biopharmaceutical enterprises will be introduced; a full-process vertical ecological system for the research and development, incubation, pilot production, clinical registration, and industrialization of the biotechnology industry will be built, becoming a source of accelerated development of Dongguan's biotechnology industry, and plans to be a professional demonstration park for biotechnology in the Greater Bay Area and even the whole country.
2021 is the beginning of Songshan Lake's comprehensive development of the biological industry. In the early stage, many high-quality enterprises have gathered, and a number of industrial public service platforms have been built, including Guangdong Medical Device Quality Supervision and Inspection Institute (Dongguan Center), Dongguan Food and Drug Inspection Institute, Songshan Lake Biomedical Innovation and R&D Public Instrument Platform, Lianjie Full Chemical Analysis and Testing Platform; it has a number of major scientific research universities such as Spallation Neutron Source, Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory, and Guangdong Medical University. Songshan Lake will fully support the development and construction of Songhu Pharmaceutical Port Industrial Park and support the construction of the industrial park to become the central park of Songshan Lake's biotechnology industry.
It is reported that in 2012, the Dongguan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government officially established the "Dongguan Cross-Strait Biotechnology Industry Cooperation Base", strategically deploying the development of biotechnology, an emerging industry in Songshan Lake, accelerating the promotion of transformation and upgrading, and building an innovative economy. Dongguan Biotechnology Industry Development Co., Ltd., as a comprehensive operator of the "Dongguan Cross-Strait Biotechnology Industry Cooperation Base", undertakes the task of building biomedicine into a new economic growth pole in Dongguan. As of the end of 2019, Songshan Lake has gathered more than 80% of the city's biological industry innovation resources, and more than 400 registered biopharmaceutical companies.
In 2020, the Dongguan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government made work arrangements to concentrate their efforts on building seven strategic emerging industry bases. Among them, Songshan Lake Bio-Pharmaceutical Industry Base is one of the seven strategic emerging industry bases, and is located in the Songshan Lake Triangle and the Taiwan Science and Technology Park. Its future development goal is to focus on the resource advantages of the national high-tech zone, focus on the development of industries such as biomedicine, high-end medical devices, smart medical care, etc., and build a domestic biomedicine industry base with great potential. Dongguan's biopharmaceutical industry is expected to achieve greater breakthroughs.
