In response to the development of Taiwan's tourism industry in the post-epidemic era, Lin Zhiying, chairman of the Nantou County Hotel Industry Association, said in an interview with China Review News Agency that it is still necessary to try to restore overseas tourism. Taiwan's tourism industry is currently benefiting from the domestic tourism boom and the prosperity has rebounded. It is expected that this wave of heat can be maintained until at least the first half of next year. It must be continued. In addition to the length of subsidy measures of the Taiwan authorities, the efforts of the operators are also very important. However, domestic tourism is prone to weak cycles, and there is no injection of overseas tourism. Tourism and accommodation operators should still be cautious and fearful.

Jiang Lin also mentioned that it is very important to restore overseas tourism and obtain the new crown pneumonia vaccine. He also hopes that the Taiwan authorities can get more and better when traveling to Taiwan with foreign agreements. In the past, Nantou County won large-scale economic dividends under the sightseeing and tourism of mainland tourists. We look forward to establishing a tourist bubble and not limit it, and it will attract all regions to boost Taiwan's tourism industry.
Lin Zhiying, chairman of the Nantou Hotel Industry Association, was once the general manager of the Xitou Mingshan Forest Association in Nantou County. He renovated the surrounding parks of the guild and created the famous Xitou Monster Village. He became a well-known cultural and creative scenic spot in Nantou, and created a record of 3 million visitors a year. Currently, the "Xibu Haodaizhuang" that has been transformed into a new hotel and leisure park has gradually gained popularity recently.
When talking about the impact of Taiwan's tourism and accommodation industry, Lin Zhiying attended the Hotel Festival event on the 17th and said that in terms of Nantou's situation, the first half of this year was undoubtedly a huge winter of prosperity. When the outbreak of the epidemic broke out, Nantou County reduced 2.12 million tourists during the Spring Festival holiday at the beginning of the year, a decrease of 50% from the same period last year. The overall hotel booking rate dropped by more than 70%. The popular Xitou and Sun Moon Lake were not spared. At that time, some operators could not bear the impact and stopped their business, turning Nantou's original main industry into a "tragic industry".
According to statistics from the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, Nantou County's average annual tourism output value is about NT$22 billion. Due to the impact of the epidemic in the first half of this year, nearly 10 billion yuan of output value was lost.
Lin Zhiying said that fortunately, the control of the epidemic in Taiwan slowed down in the second half of the year, and the outbreak of domestic tourism gave the tourism industry a breathing space. According to experts' analysis, the global epidemic will continue until the end of 2022. He estimated that this wave of tourism boom in Taiwan is expected to continue until at least the first half of next year. Whether it can be maintained in the future depends on the length of subsidy measures of the Taiwan authorities and the efforts of the operators.
However, before overseas tourism resumes, Taiwanese tourism operators should still be cautious and fearful. Lin Zhiying said that because Taiwan’s tourism is prone to weak cycles, that is, tourism styles can reduce vitality due to the reduction of subsidies or lack of freshness, so domestic tourism consumption is limited. In the long run, there must be a supply of overseas tourism water, so that Taiwan’s tourism can develop for a long time.
Lin Zhiying mentioned that the trend of mainland tourist attractions in Nantou County in the past is the best example. In the past, the average number of mainland tourists visited Nantou every year has brought huge tourism economic benefits. It is not to be denied that in recent years, due to the sharp decline in mainland tourists and the impact of the epidemic, it has severely damaged the glorious scenery of Nantou. Therefore, to truly restore tourism in Taiwan, the contribution of overseas tourists is still an important key.
But unfortunately, Taiwan and Palau had previously negotiated a tourism bubble to break the deadline. Lin Zhiying believes that the Taiwan authorities should try to obtain the new crown pneumonia vaccine as soon as possible, which may increase the opportunity to establish a tourism bubble outside. He also hopes that Taiwan's exploration of overseas tourism will be better, avoiding the possibility of eliminating various possibilities including mainland tourists, and restoring overseas tourism exchanges, so that Taiwan's tourism industry can escape the current crisis.
