But what fascinates me the most is the mysterious "Dead Sea Scrolls" in the rumor. As a fan of immortals, I always have a strong curiosity about xx ancient scrolls, xx scriptures, xx secrets, ancient xx... I will be selected by an ancient divine scroll and let me open my eyes, reborn, and become a Buddha immediately?
cough cough, then again, when I visited the Israeli Museum in New City, Jerusalem, I listened carefully to the explanation, hoping that she could bring me more information about the Dead Sea Scrolls, but she was not satisfied, so I took it in a few words. Discovery of "Dead Sea Scrolls"
In March 1947, an Arab shepherd boy lost a sheep while grazing. He searched all the way and came to the Kumran Valley (now known as the Kumran Ruins) on the shore of the northwest corner of the Dead Sea. The shepherd boy discovered a cave and threw a stone in it. He actually heard the sound of the broken ceramics. The shepherd boy was surprised and called a few friends to go into the cave to explore. They found that there were many clay pots containing cattails and parchment rolls. The shepherd boy didn't know what this was, so he took the 7 bundles of goatskin rolls away.
The shepherd boy took away was confirmed to be a Judaism and Christian scriptures written in ancient Hebrew. This discovery attracted the attention of archaeologists, and formed an archaeological team to investigate the Koumran Valley and found dozens of relatively complete scriptures and tens of thousands of fragments.
Later, these parchment scrolls and fragments were collectively called "The Dead Sea Scrolls" (also known as "The Coomlan Scrolls").
Preservation of "Dead Sea Scrolls"
Archaeologists analyzed and determined the file. The "Dead Sea Scrolls" were produced between 250 BC and 68 AD, two thousand years ago!
Common sense tells us that ordinary paper cannot be preserved for two thousand years, but the "Dead Sea Scrolls" are mostly recorded on sheepskin, and some are recorded on special papyrus, wrapped in cattails, stuffed into pottery jars, and hidden in caves. I don’t know if it was the superb preservation technology of our ancestors or the various coincidences and accidents, but after 2,000 years of changes in mountains and rivers, some of the complete ancient scrolls were preserved.
Today's "Dead Sea Scrolls" are stored in a specially made storage room in the Israel Museum . According to the tour guide, the humidity, temperature and light of this storage room are almost completely replicated with the caves on the excavated site. Photographs are not allowed, and the fragments show no signs of oxidation and erosion.
Is the exquisite preservation environment artificially designed or God’s will? No one can give the answer, it is as mysterious as the Dead Sea Scrolls itself.
Contents of "The Dead Sea Scrolls"
As scholars decipher the "The Dead Sea Scrolls", the contents of the ancient scrolls also unveiled the mystery and gradually surfaced.
