  2022 World University Influence Ranking

  In the recently released Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, RMIT has once again ranked among the world's first-class universities. Times Higher Education World University Influence Ranking is the only one that evaluates the ranking of global universities based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

  The ranking of 2022 is the fourth influence ranking, and its overall ranking covers 1,406 universities from 106 countries/regions. Compared with last year, the number of universities participating in the ranking this time has increased significantly. This ranking uses carefully calibrated indicators to comprehensively and balance the comparison of 4 broad areas, including: research, management, outreach activities and teaching.

  The Times Higher Education World University Influence Ranking was first launched in 2019 to demonstrate its progress in the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by measuring the environmental, social and economic impact of a university.

  RMIT ranks among the top

  RMIT shines in this ranking! In the overall influence ranking, RMIT ranks 22nd in the world and 4th in Australia. RMIT ranks third in the world and second in Australia in its commitment to reducing inequality within and among countries (SDG 10, SDG 10), and RMIT ranks fifth in the world and first in Australia in promoting decent work and economic growth (SDG 8, SDG 8).

 This is the third consecutive year RMIT ranked fifth in the world in Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8), which affirms the efforts made by RMIT in promoting lasting, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, as well as promoting full productive employment and access to decent work for all.

  RMIT ranks 13th in the world in terms of clean drinking water and sanitation (SDG 6, SDG 6) and 5th in Australia; 37th in the world in terms of economical and applicable clean energy (SDG 7, SDG 7) and 6th in Australia; and 42nd in the world in terms of sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11, SDG 11) and 5th in Australia.

In addition, in this influence ranking, RMIT ranked 62nd in the world in responsible consumption and production (SDG 12, SDG 12) and ranked 89th in the world in building partnerships to achieve their goals (SDG 17, SDG 17).

   Looking forward to the future

  2022 Times Higher Education World University Influence Ranking affirms the efforts and contributions made by RMIT RIME in promoting sustainable development.

  RMIT has achieved the largest campus emission reduction among all higher education institutions in Australia and continues to take urgent action to continue to reduce carbon emissions globally to address climate change.

 Last March, RMIT also announced that all investments at the university will be completely free of fossil fuels and launched a new sustainable global fund that excludes companies with carbon reserves and companies that earn significant revenue from fossil fuel-related activities.

  Sustainable development is imperative. As a role model for sustainable development, RMIT will continue to bring positive energy to the world.
