Comprehensive French media reports that the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) recently released the 2022-2023 World University Rankings. This ranking has evaluated nearly 20,000 universities around the world every year since 2019 and released the ranking of the world's top 2,000 universities, making it the largest world university ranking in the world.
In this ranking, Chinese and American universities ranked first in the world (355), including 302 in the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, and 33 in Taiwan. There are 77 universities in France on the list, ranking fifth in the world. Japan and the United Kingdom are on the list of 118 and 94 respectively.
Among the top 100 universities, American universities account for half; there are 6 universities in China, namely Tsinghua University (47), Peking University (51), University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (63), Shanghai Jiaotong University (80), Zhejiang University (97) and Taiwan University (96); there are 5 universities in France, namely the University of Arts and Sciences (19), the University of Thackeray Paris (32), Sorbonne University (38), Cidai Paris (42) and the Institute of Technology Paris (43).
This time, the rankings of many universities in mainland China have been greatly improved: Tsinghua University has been promoted 11 places, Peking University has been promoted 8 places, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences has been promoted 10 places, Shanghai Jiaotong University has been promoted 22 places, and Zhejiang University and Fudan University have been promoted 13 places.
