Mainland Chinese universities have achieved remarkable results in this year's ranking. 13 mainland universities ranked among the top 300, among which Peking University and Tsinghua University ranked among the top 15, ranking 12th and 14th respectively, which are the highest rankings achieved by the two schools since the establishment of the list. The two ranked 18th and 17th respectively last year. In addition to Tsinghua and Peking University
, the top 300 mainland universities include: Fudan University , Zhejiang University , Shanghai Jiaotong University , China University of Science and Technology , Nanjing University , Wuhan University , Tongji University , etc. The rankings of most colleges and universities have increased year-on-year.The number of mainland Chinese universities on the list is the third in the world and the first in Asia, with a total of 71 on the list. The top two universities on the list are the United States and the United Kingdom, with 201 and 90 universities on the list.
QS said that the proportion of international teachers in the 49 universities listed in mainland China has declined, which is a side effect of the global epidemic. However, Zhejiang University rushed to the top 100 of this indicator against the trend. At the same time, the proportion of international students in 54 mainland Chinese universities has decreased, and only , Jinan University has ranked among the top 300 in the world.

Globally, MIT ranked first for the 11th consecutive year, Cambridge rose to second place, and Stanford third place. Among the top ten on the list, the number of universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Swiss is 5, 4 and 1 respectively.

The top 20 universities in the UK are basically the same as last year. This year is Cambridge University again defeating Oxford University after 8 years, ranking second in the world.
QS World University Rankings are compiled using six indicators, namely academic reputation, employer reputation, unit faculty citations, teacher-student ratio, international teacher ratio, international student ratio, employment results and international research network. The latter two are new unweighted indicators added this year.
"China is now offering the skills required for digital economy while promoting lifelong learning. It is estimated that one-third of the global career transformation required for future jobs may occur in China," said Ben Sowter, senior vice president of QS.
