June 7, on the top of the mountain with an altitude of more than 600 meters in Dongsha Village, Donghai Town, Chengxiang District, the Taiwan Kansai Industry Demonstration Base was particularly conspicuous after practicing the mountain. Zhang Linghui, general manager of the base, is busy guiding workers to move seedlings from the transport truck, use shovels and weeds, dig holes to plant seedlings, and orderly interplant coffee seedlings among the trees.
Coffee is a short-day plant that requires sunlight but is not suitable for long-term sunshine. It is mostly interplanted with trees. The top of Dongsha Village is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, and descends in a stepped shape from north to south, making it very suitable for coffee cultivation. At the beginning of this year, after multiple evaluations, the base decided to subplant coffee seedlings under the original beef camphor tree. So, the coffee seeds from the mountains of Wushe Mountain in Nantou County, Taiwan Province were taken back to Donghai Town by Zhang Linghui. After careful cultivation, they were planted among the camphor trees.

"Land in Taiwan is relatively scarce, and the benefits are maximized on limited land, and the intercropping model is relatively mature." Zhang Linghui introduced that based on this understanding, the base adheres to the principle of adapting to local conditions and sustainable development, with Kanji as the leading industry. In terms of the planting model, based on the characteristics of long growth cycle and large planting spacing, it explores intercropping models such as "Kanji + Coffee", "Kanji + Golden Flower Tree", "Kanji + Rosemary ", and uses short growth to promote longevity and farming to promote care and improve the comprehensive benefits of forest land. At present, due to the geographical constraints of the mountainous geographical location, the base plans to sub-seed coffee area of 800 acres.
In order to encourage Taiwanese businessmen to start businesses in Chengxiang District and support the development of Taiwan's characteristic agricultural and forestry industry, Chengxiang District transforms eucalyptus forests in non-key ecological locations, and introduces Taiwanese-funded enterprises to plant precious broad-leaved trees with Taiwan characteristics such as beef camphor trees to achieve a "win-win" ecological and economic benefits. Liu Dufeng, mayor of Donghai Town, introduced that Taiwan compatriots and Taiwanese enterprises come to Putian to start businesses with a municipal subsidy of 600 yuan/mu, district-level subsidy of 600 yuan/mu, and Taiwan's first phase subsidy of more than 600,000 yuan has been fully in place. Next, we will continue to support the company's plan to turn 10,000 mu into 10,000 mu. In the future, we can also use this 10,000 mu industrial park to promote rural tourism.
"Coffee can be harvested in 3 years, with a total output of more than 20 kilograms per 5 year, with a minimum of 40 yuan per kilogram. At present, about 150 coffee seedlings per mu per nibac, with a yield of about 8 kilograms per kilogram." Zhang Linghui said that the company also sells coffee seedlings, and this year will cultivate 600,000 to 1 million seedlings, with an annual seedling of 25 yuan per kilogram and a biennial seedlings of 50 yuan per kilogram.
At present, the Niu Zhangshu factory integrating production and tourism is being selected. After the factory is implemented, the base will build a Niu zeng exhibition hall to create a cultural and creative industrial park for "Two-strait Niu zeng traditional Chinese medicine health tourism science popularization", and make the Niu zeng brand famous, making Putian a window for Niu zeng to go to the world.
