Among the People's Navy warships, there are 8 destroyers named after Sichuan city, ranking high in the number of warships named in each province. Among them, two ships were put into service in 2019 alone, including the 052D-class Chengdu ship. Let’s take a look at these warships separately.
The oldest among the destroyers named in Sichuan city is the Mianyang ship with hull number 528. It was launched in May 2004, joined the Navy in April 2005, and is under the Beihai Fleet. It belongs to the 053H3 frigate, an improved type developed on the 053H2G. The ship is 110 meters long and has a full load displacement of 2,250 tons. It is equipped with 100mm double-barrel naval gun , anti-submarine rockets, Hongqi-7 short-range ship-to-air missiles, double-barrel 37mm guns and YJ-83 anti-ship missiles. It is also equipped with a helicopter take-off and landing deck and hangar.
The Mianyang ship participated in the naval parade to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy on April 23, 2009. In 2010, the Mianyang ship also participated in naval formations visiting the five South Pacific countries. From February to September 2013, the Mianyang ship first went to the Gulf of Aden to carry out an escort mission, setting a new record of the smallest tonnage of the escort ship and is also the only 053H3 frigate to participate in the escort. In 2014, the Mianyang ship participated in the mission of searching for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. At present, 4 of the 10 053H3 models have been upgraded, 2 for sale to Bangladesh, and 2 for sale, and only the two youngest ships, the 527 Luoyang ships and 528 Mianyang ships have not started renovations. The largest number of destroyers named in Sichuan city is the 056-class light frigate . The 056-class frigate is a new generation of multi-purpose light frigate launched by the Chinese Navy in 2012. The ship is 89 meters long and has a full load displacement of 1,500 tons. It is equipped with H/PJ-26 76mm gun, Haihongqi 10 air defense missile, Eagle strike 83 anti-ship missile, anti-submarine missile, but no hangar is installed. This class of ships focuses on offshore defense operations, patrol and guarding fishing and escort. The improved 056A has enhanced its anti-submarine capability, and a device deployment hatch has been added at the stern of the ship, from which towed sonar can be dropped. One six-pipe anti-submarine rocket launcher is installed on each side of the middle of the hull. Among the frigates named in Sichuan city, only the Luzhou ship is the basic type 056. The other Deyang ship , Guangyuan ship , Suining ship, Nanchong ship , and Bazhong ship all belong to the 056A class.
Luzhou ship, hull number 592, is the 13th ship of the China Type 056 frigate series. It was launched on July 16, 2013 and was put into service on June 7, 2014 in the Xisha Water Police District, Yulin Base, South China Sea Fleet. He has participated in the 2016 South China Sea military exercise. On May 25, 2017, the USS Dewey missile destroyer entered the waters near the relevant islands and reefs of China's Nansha Islands. The Liuzhou missile frigate and the Luzhou missile frigate identified and verified the US ships and warned them to drive them away.
Guangyuan ship, hull number 552, was launched on October 28, 2016, and was included in the South China Sea Fleet on November 16, 2017. In late February 2019, the Guangyuan Ship carried out practical training. In May 2019, he participated in the "Blue Assault-2019" joint training of the China-Thailand Navy.
Suining ship, hull number 551, was launched on October 3, 2016, and was included in the South China Sea Fleet on November 28, 2017. In April 2019, during the trial voyage of the Suining ship, the local "Shentai" cargo ship suddenly caught fire, successfully rescuing 15 crew members in distress. In August 2019, the Suining ship carried out full-factor, multi-subject, practical maritime training in complex environments.
Deyang ship, hull number 554, was launched on December 29, 2016, and was included in the East China Sea Fleet on January 19, 2018. On April 23, 2019, the Deyang ship held an open day event in a military port along the coast of Fujian.
Nanchong ship hull number 557 was launched in January 2017 and was officially included in a frigate detachment of the South China Sea Fleet on June 1, 2018. In April 2019, full-factor, multi-subject, practical maritime training was carried out in complex environments.
The hull number of Bazhong ship 625 was launched on August 8, 2018 and served in the South China Sea Fleet on November 5, 2019.
The last Sichuan-born destroyer is a Chengdu ship with a hull number of 120. It was included in the Port of Lushun on November 20, 2019 and officially joined the Detachment 10 of the Destroyer, known as the "nutritional home".The 10th Detachment was originally the base camp of the 051 series. With the acceleration of naval modernization, it was finally able to replace the latest domestic 052DG destroyer. Happiness came too suddenly and unacceptable.
052D missile destroyer has a full load displacement of about 6,300 tons, a length of about 155 meters, and is equipped with a four-sided 346A phased array radar, equipped with a 64-connected universal vertical launch system, which can launch Haihongqi 9 air defense missile, Eagle strike 18-on-ship missile and rocket assisted torpedo. It is also equipped with H/PJ-38 130mm single-barrel naval gun, Haihongqi 10 short-range air defense missile and 730 short-range air defense missile and , torpedo, and anti-submarine deep bomb, and its combat capability reaches the world's advanced level. Its improved DG near-proof gun has been replaced from 730 to 1130, and the radar calibration feed rod under the shield surface has been cancelled.
