A week later, Chiang Kai-shek got into the "Meiling" plane amid the rumbling cannons of the People's Liberation Army and fled from Chengdu to Taiwan.
More than a year later, a highway has gone from scratch, connecting Chengdu on one end and Xiamen on the other end, but what it wants to do most is to pass through Taiwan Strait .
It is National Highway 319, a highway rated as the "third most beautiful road in the karst region" by " China National Geographic " China.

01, G319
, which wants to cross the strait, from the starting and ending point, this is actually a national highway with a strong political meaning, just like the , which was flooded online some time ago, Beijing-Taiwan high-speed railway , Beijing-Taiwan high-speed G3, but not many people follow it.
In " National Highway Network Planning ", its starting point is , Kaohsiung , and the end point is , Chengdu , Sichuan and Chengdu , but due to the current tension in the Taiwan Strait, I first built , Xiamen , Xiamen , and the current full length of 984 kilometers.
In fact, whether it is politics, science and technology, history and culture, or terrain, many national highways are difficult to compare with G319.

In terms of landform, after it crosses the strait, the remaining sections of road are either Zhejiang and Fujian hills , or Jiangnan hills , with many mountains and rivers and rich landforms.

In 1987, my country formally proposed the undersea tunnel project in the Taiwan Strait, and planned to build an undersea tunnel from Xiamen, Nanri and Pingtan to Taiwan.

Three undersea tunnels are divided into South, Central and North Third Lines , among which the Beijing-Taiwan Expressway G3 and the Beijing-Taiwan High-speed Railway are located: Pingtan- Hsinchu , the lowest difficulty is 124 kilometers long, the southern line where G319 is located: Xiamen- Chiayi , the highest difficulty is 174 kilometers long.
In other words, when G319 was built to Kaohsiung, it marked that my country's undersea tunnel construction technology was very mature and ranked at the forefront of the world. At that time, the Beijing-Taiwan High-speed Railway must have been completed.

02, Taiwan Strait

Kinmen is a relatively special county town, the most famous one is shelling Kinmen . Although it is only three or four kilometers away from Xiamen, it is actually under the jurisdiction of Taiwan Province.
This is actually a choice made by the country out of politics. After the Korean War, the country hoped to resolve the Taiwan issue, but the situation became complicated by the intervention of the United States. The United States hopes that Chiang Kai-shek can give up Kinmen and Matsu, stick to Taiwan's main island, and form a "Second Middle School" situation, but the latter does not agree.
This incident attracted Chairman Mao's attention. Later, he decided to attack instead of and ordered the shelling of Kinmen. Chiang Kai-shek tacitly chose to defend but not attack , and finally formed the current situation, with Kinmen and Matsu becoming the link between the mainland and Taiwan.
