Today is the 100th birthday of the Party, so I feel a little excited." Zhang Aiyou said emotionally that the purpose of raising the national flag is to warn himself that he will never forget the kindness of the Party.
This move originated from an accident at home 29 years ago. Zhang Aiyou told reporters that on the evening of August 5, 1992, due to days of heavy rain, four earthen embryo rooms in the house that had been in disrepair collapsed. The wife, who had escaped death, squatted in the rain with her child in her arms, and cried helplessly.
When the family was at a loss, neighbors came in the rain to help them cut out the items pressed under the room and bring clothes and food. Subsequently, the unit’s party branch, township party committee and caring people donated money and materials. In just 15 days, 4 new houses rose up and the whole family successfully overcome the difficulties. "The world is great, and the party has the greatest kindness. My father and mother are the closest to the Communist Party. On the day the house was built, the whole family cried with emotion." Zhang Aiyou recalled.
On that year, Zhang Aiyou raised a flagpole in his yard and raised the five-star red flag for the first time. Zhang Aiyou's father wrote the family motto of "Patriotism, love the party, love society, love family; benefit others, selfishness, the country, and the people" on red paper, and posted it in the main hall. Since then, raising the national flag at major moments has become Zhang Aiyou's habit and has never been interrupted.
In order to repay the party’s kindness and serve the people, Zhang Aiyou and his wife Song Fengying set up a “Technology Question Consultation Bag” at home. When villagers encounter planting problems, they just need to write it on paper and put it in the consultation bag. Zhang Aiyou takes time to go to the agricultural technology department to ask experts for advice. After they come back, they feed the information back to the villagers, which is very popular.
The couple also squeezed out two rooms to set up a "Family Spiritual Civilization Culture Education and Propaganda Center", raising money from multiple sources to purchase newspapers, magazines, books and audio equipment for villagers to read for free, and sometimes they carry a recorder to play healthy and uplifting literary and artistic programs from home. In 1997, Zhang Aiyou was commended by the Zhoukou Military Sub-district as an "advanced individual in spiritual civilization".
In December 11999, Zhang Aiyou joined the party gloriously. "On the day I officially joined the party, I silently warned myself in my heart that I should do my best to repay the society and never be ashamed of the honorable identity of a party member." Zhang Aiyou said.
May 20, 2000 is a special day for Zhang Aiyou. That day, Zhang Aiyou, who was working in logistics at a high school in the county town, heard that there was an abandoned baby near the school. "At that time, the monthly salary was only 400 yuan, and the food and clothing cost of the whole family could barely maintain it. What should I do?" Seeing the child crying on the ground was so pitiful. After a fierce ideological struggle, Zhang Aiyou resolutely carried the child back home.
The wife saw the baby boy with a thorny head and was reluctant to let go of it. While the family was happy about the import of children, they found that the baby boy actually suffered from congenital heart disease . Zhang Aiyou never gave up and spent more than 100,000 yuan. With the help of caring people, he went to three or four hospitals to save his life. Later, Zhang Aiyou named the child Zhang Dangfu and carefully raised him.
Zhang Aiyou’s kindness is far more than that. While working in the school, he saved money and took out part of his salary to support nearly 100 poor and disabled students, many of whom have been admitted to college. "They came to see me during the Chinese New Year, and I also told them that they should be determined to become talents and contribute to society."
Whenever there are public welfare undertakings such as building roads and squares in the village, Zhang Aiyou's family actively participates and contributes a lot of money. Slowly, Zhang Aiyou's deeds spread throughout the villages. Zhang Aiyou's family was commended as "the most beautiful family in my hometown". Zhang Aiyou himself was hired by the Guyang Office as a member of Renzhuang Village Integrity Supervision Committee, serving the villagers more "legitimately".
