China News Network, September 9 According to the US World Journal, on September 8, senior executives of nine major pharmaceutical companies in the United States and Europe issued a rare joint statement, saying that they will not apply for approval by the relevant competent authorities until the new crown vaccine has undergone the third phase of clinical trial and is proven to be safe and effective. The report said the move will help boost public confidence in the vaccine.
According to reports, senior executives of nine major pharmaceutical companies wrote in a joint statement: "We believe that this statement can help ensure public trust in strict scientific and regulatory processes, and the new crown vaccine will be evaluated and may eventually be approved."

Senior executives of these companies also vowed to "only apply for approval or emergency use license after the third phase of clinical trial proves that the vaccine is safe and effective; the design and implementation of the trial is to meet the conditions stipulated by professional competent authorities such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration." They also vowed to "always take the safety and health of vaccinated people as the primary consideration."
reported that these companies also said in this "historic statement" that they will "maintain the integrity of scientific processes when they may apply for approval from global competent authorities for the first batch of COVID-19 vaccines in the future." The statement does not rule out the possibility of using some data from a large-scale Phase III vaccine trial to apply for an emergency use permit; at least 30,000 subjects must participate in this phase of the trial; such trials usually take years to complete, and long-term tracking is required to know how long the vaccine's protective power may last.
reported that the senior executives of the pharmaceutical factory that signed the statement were from Pfizer, Johnson Johnson, Moderna, Novavax, GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca, Merck, BioNTech, and Sanofi, France.
Previously, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) required states to prepare the equipment needed to distribute vaccines by November 1. However, American infectious disease expert Fauci said on September 8 that the new crown vaccine may not be released before the US election. Fauci said in a meeting that the chances of vaccine development success are higher than that “before the end of this year”, but by November 3, “there is no decisive answer.”
reported that US President Trump said at a press conference on the 7th that vaccines are expected to be distributed before the US election vote. But American infectious disease experts and scientists are worried that the vaccine approval process may be "political" impact.
