In the southeast of Taiwan Province, my country, there is a small island standing in the Western Pacific - Lanyu . Lanyu is the most beautiful outlying island in Taiwan. The island has beautiful scenery and tropical scenery. The island is the place where the indigenous people of Taiwan Province live for generations. Most of the explorations are fishing for a living, and still maintain traditional and primitive living habits.
lanyu coastline
lanyu is a small island standing in the Western Pacific Ocean with an area of 45 square kilometers. It is the largest island of Taiwan's main island. It is northwest of 249 nautical miles from Taitung City, Taiwan Province and 245 nautical miles from Green Island. It is located in the tropical region, with high temperatures all year round, with an average annual temperature of 22℃, and it is rainy all year round, without obvious rainy seasons or dry seasons. The island has beautiful scenery and a tropical scenery.
Lanyu is a volcanic island formed by the eruption of undersea volcanoes. Most of the island is mountainous, and there are only gentle flat lands near the coast. The circumference of the entire island is 38 kilometers, and the coastline is very tortuous, mostly surrounded by uplifting coral reefs, and is full of natural rock caves and strange cliffs. There are many special erosion terrain landscapes, including Jade Girl Rock, Shuangshi Rock, Longtou Rock and Lover Cave.
On an island with a radius of 45 square kilometers, there are a native of Taiwan Province - Dawu people. Dawu people are a branch of the alpine tribe and . They are also the only ethnic group among the alpine tribes in Taiwan Province that live on an offshore island. The ancestors of Dawu people are inseparable from the Philippines. Due to geographical reasons, the Dawu people are of the same origin as the inhabitants of Batan Island, Philippines in terms of language and culture. There are more than 4,000 Dawu compatriots living on the island. They are gentle, loyal and pure, able to sing and dance, and still retain their original living habits. Mysterious and unique customs and simple and primitive appearance make Lanyu known as "the last pure land in Taiwan."
Dawu people continue some ancient life customs. Due to the hot climate of Lanyu Island, coupled with the influence of tradition, in the past, men of Dawu only tied a T-band on their lower body, and women wrapped a square scarf on their chest and waist. There are more men and fewer women on the island, and women have a high social status and enjoy absolute right to choose a spouse. They eat fish with clear ranks, and the best fish should be left for women to eat.
Island residents basically live a self-sufficient life. They make a living by fishing. Flying Fish is the most important fishing fish for the tribe. In order to catch fish, they developed excellent shipbuilding technology - pie board boats. The Pinbanzhou has become a representative of elegant and beautiful culture. With the most primitive tools, the boats are cleverly combined and built to be solid and beautiful.
Kind and hospitable, Dawu people farm, fishing, animal husbandry on Lanyu Island, developed a completely different marine culture from other indigenous peoples on Taiwan, and became the only marine ethnic group among the indigenous peoples in Taiwan. They fish, build board boats, live in underground houses... with unique customs and taboos and infinite awe of nature.
