Chen Guolong, deputy director of the Fujian Provincial Department of Education, pointed out that Fujian is one of the earliest regions of reform and opening up. The forum held on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of Minjiang College has both practical significance and theoretical value. At the same time, Fujian Province has comprehensively promoted the pilot program of transformation, development and reform, and has built a "four-in-one" transformation and development model. He hopes that the forum will be a frank, efficient and constructive dialogue, which will bring more inspiration to the construction of an applied university in the new era.
He Daiqin, Party Secretary of Minjiang College, said that Minjiang College has always been unswervingly becoming an applied university with the closest connection with Fuzhou City. The convening of this forum is a rare opportunity for the school to learn from brother colleges and universities at home and abroad. He said that this forum will definitely become a bridge and link for exchanges and cooperation among universities, and will promote all schools to make due contributions to the innovation and development of applied universities. At the forum, Chen Guolong, deputy director of the Fujian Provincial Department of Education, gave a keynote report entitled "Exploration and Practice of the Construction of Applied Undergraduate Colleges and Universities in Fujian". He believes that in the transformation and development of applied universities, they should be guided by improving the demand capabilities of serving regional and industry. 18 undergraduate universities should implement the "one school, one plan" and participate in the overall transformation. At the same time, they should focus on building 112 applied disciplines that have a great role in promoting economic and social development and are closely related to the construction of a modern industrial system, laying a firm foundation for high-quality cultivation and construction of professional degree authorization points. Karina Davis, executive director of Melbourne Polytechnic Institute of Australia, gave a keynote speech entitled "Melbourne Polytechnic Institute of Technology's Applied Talents-Cultivate Direct Employment Talents for the Industry". She believes that in terms of cultivating students, applied universities should create corresponding learning environments based on different majors to make the learning process lively, so as to help students learn in an organized manner, so that students can learn something and apply what they have learned. At the forum, Truong Phi Duc, former president of the National University of Fine Arts in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, Wang Shuyin, acting president of the Chinese University of Culture in Taiwan, Dino Bettiol, vice president of the Melbourne Polytechnic Institute in Australia, and Cai Jingmin, secretary of the Party Committee of Hefei College, respectively, made wonderful speeches on the topics of "Innovation and Development of Training of the University of Fine Arts in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam", "International Higher Education and Cross-Strait Cooperation - Taking the Chinese University of Culture in Taiwan as an Example", "Melbourne Polytechnic Institute's Applied Talent Training-Cultivate Direct Employment Talents for the Industry" and "Exploration and Practice of the Construction of High-level Applied University".
