Take-Two has confirmed that Visual Concepts Studio will continue to produce the WWE 2K series of wrestling games after its "disappointing" debut. T2 said on the earnings call that they are "actively working with" the California-based developer to improve the quality of future games starting with WWE 2K21.

"WWE 2K20" is the first product in the series to be completely developed by Visual Concepts. After publisher 2K broke off cooperation with senior WWE studio Yuke’s, Visual Concepts, the studio that previously developed the game, took over the WWE 2K series.
T2 previously stated that their large number of negative reviews of "WWE 2K20" were "disappointed", mainly because there were major technical problems when the game was released. 2K has since released a series of "WWE 2K20" patches, aiming to solve many problems in the game.
T2 CEO Strauss Zelnick assured investors on Thursday's earnings call that the WWE 2K20 issue will be resolved. Strauss Zelnick said: "While we are disappointed that neither the sales and quality of WWE 2K20 have met our expectations, 2K is still actively working with Visual Concepts to ensure that these issues are addressed in the future. They will soon have more plans to share. The WWE brand will continue to expand globally and remains a significant opportunity to grow our WWE 2K series in the long run by improving the quality of the game."

Before WWE 2K20, Yuke Studios Japan has been the developer of the WWE 2K series for nearly 20 years, and has been working on the series since Smackdown of PS1 in 1999.
