This time I participated in the test drive of the "Quanzhen Trial Sichuan-Tibet Tour" was my second time to come into contact with this car. Most of the altitudes of our route this time are between 3000-3700 meters. This high altitude has begun to be unfriendly to self-priming engines, but the impact of turbocharger is much less. On the way from Chengdu to Kangding , you need to cross the Zheduo Mountain Pass with an altitude of nearly 4,000 meters. MG ONE's dynamic performance on this road does not have much impact, and it feels quite easy to control and relax. Even though the two people and their luggage were pulled in the car, it was not difficult to climb at high altitudes. Only when starting, the power connection of the CVT transmission was slightly delayed.
Of course, if the mountain road is accelerated and overtaking, it is recommended to switch to SUPER SPORT mode, so that the power response is more timely, and there is no obvious abruptness during the continuous acceleration. The response speed of the accelerator pedal feedback is also satisfactory. If the throttle is at the end, the MG ONE can still accelerate continuously, so this 1.5T engine is still confident.
In addition to acceleration, walking on mountain roads will inevitably put frequent pressure on the brakes. The performance of continuous downhill brakes is not obvious. Tap the brakes and the body will move immediately. In addition, Continental PC6 tires bring a strong grip, and the sudden brake feels very down-to-earth.
MG ONE left a good impression on me during the last test drive of the venue. This is because the biggest improvement of the new SIGMA architecture compared to previous models is the chassis quality. You can feel that the chassis of MG ONE has been adjusted for a while, and it does not simply compromise on comfort, but takes into account the fun of driving control.
Such improvements will have an impact on comfort, such as the road to failure is even more messy. In the continuous ups and downs of mountain roads, even if the suspension process is clean and neat, the seat conveys more information to the human body. You can also feel that the chassis support is better in continuous curves. It can be corrected quickly after proper rolling, giving the driver more confidence in handling.
MG ONE has moderate steering force and can switch severity according to the driving mode, but the overall difference is not big, which is more refined than the previous MG car. On the mountain roads with many bends in western Sichuan, this steering feel is combined with the lower center of gravity of the car, which makes people feel confident and not tired when driving.
When I returned to the airport, I chose the rear seat to ride. In addition to the not too comfortable sitting position, the longitudinal space of my legs is still good, and there is no pressure to cross my legs. The quietness of driving is also an improvement over the past. Even if you drive at a high speed of 120km/h, you won’t feel very noisy. The only drawback is that the chassis noise is a bit too high. Although the engine sounds are not bad, it still has a certain presence when running.
