The larger one is an adult male elephant, and the smaller one is an adult male elephant. The two Asian elephants are siblings. On July 12, the reporter learned from the Jiudingshan Wildlife Park in Xuzhou that these two Asian elephants are in good condition and have adapted to their new home life.
On June 7 this year, two Asian elephants moved their homes from Dongguan, southern Guangdong to Xuzhou, northern Jiangsu. The venue they stayed in was named "Jixiang Tiandi". It is at the intersection of the chariot and pedestrian areas, with a beautiful location and environment. The entire exhibition area covers an area of about 4,000 square meters and is divided into two indoor and outdoor display areas, mainly meeting the living and display of Asian elephants in different climatic conditions.

The indoor exhibition hall has a construction area of about 1,000 square meters and a roof of about 10 meters. It is divided into four animal houses and medical diagnosis rooms for indoor display and daily feeding and activities. The zoo considers that Asian elephants have come to the north for the first time, and the garden has carefully installed floor heating equipment for them so that they can feel the warmth of the south in the winter north.

According to the keeper, after several days of adaptive training, the two Asian elephants are now familiar with the venue, have a sense of "ownership", and have good physical condition and eating. The recipe is also adjusted according to the local forage products in Xuzhou, from the initial elephant grass to fresh Sudan grass , and then accompanied by an appropriate amount of concentrate feed. At the same time, the garden also supplements it with a small amount of "snacks" such as apples, bananas, watermelons, cantaloupes and other seasonal foods for heatstroke prevention.
The age of artificially raised Asian elephants can reach about 80 years old. The two Asian elephants who "settled" in Xuzhou this time are siblings. The older one is an adult female elephant. She is about 25 years old and is in her prime. She weighs about 4 tons and is named Dingding. Dingding has been gentle and cute since childhood, with a gentle personality, and is very fond of the breeders. The slightly smaller one is a subadult male elephant and was born in February 2015. It has been lively and naughty since childhood, versatile, and can salute and play football. However, it also likes to cause trouble, but it only "follows the rules" to Dingding.
According to the staff of Xuzhou Jiudingshan Wildlife Park, the construction of various venues in the park has also entered the final stage, and the introduction of animals is also in an orderly manner. At present, some animals have moved into brand new venues, and each venue is built in the ecological environment for animals to live in nature. According to the maturity of conditions, the park will introduce rare wildlife populations from all over the world, such as giraffes, rhinos, zebras, and in the later stage. It is expected that before the official opening of this fall, the park's species will reach more than 300 species, with more than 20,000 heads (only).
