Recently, German car manufacturer Opel announced that it will play with a number of classic racing cars launched by the 1970s brand, together with Astra PHEV, aiming to replicate the Olympia Rally '72 Revival event in the 1972 German Rally, recreating the spiritual atmosphere of the rally sports that year.
The racing and legendary drivers returned simultaneously, replicating the classic event 50 years ago
The 1970s racing cars played in Opel this time include representative models such as Kadett B Coupé, Commodore GS/E Coupé, Ascona 400, and rally drivers Walter Röhrl, Günther Holzer and others were invited to drive. The new car Astra PHEV, which inherits the spirit of the Opel brand, is used for transportation and mobile use by racers, providing the same unrestrained and pure driving experience as riders.
Olympia Rally '72 Revival is a rally event of the same name held in 1972, which coincides with the 50th anniversary. The competition started on August 8, 2022 and lasted for 6 days, with a total of 197 teams participating. The route extends from the northern German city of Kiel to Munich, the south, with a total of 2,252 kilometers. Leif Rohwedder, head of Opel Classic Cars, said that the reappearance of this unique rally has amazed fans, while Opel Classic Cars can arouse memories from the audience.
