We often hear CEO, CFO, CTO, COO... So do you know what kind of profession is CRO--Chief Revenue Officer? CRO is the full name Chief Revenue Officer, chief revenue officer, and is responsible for the company's revenue and profit goals.
In this issue, we interviewed ftrack's CRO--Oscar Wall, who joined ftrack in 2019 as CRO. During the interview, we learned about his career and his role as CRO in ftrack, who led the company to continue to expand in scale, into exciting new areas and launch new initiatives.
As the chief revenue officer of ftrack, what are your main responsibilities?
provides tools and architecture for our various business teams, paving the way for them to provide high-quality services to our customers, partners and potential customers. In my opinion, CRO is also responsible for helping product organization strategy work by integrating and prioritizing feedback and insights from a global customer base. This is a particularly exciting task, especially at Ftrack, and I am very honored to be able to live with so many amazing colleagues every day. ftrack clearly puts customers first and upholds a customer-centric culture.
What are you most interested in the entertainment media industry?
What is not worth loving for a creative, exciting and fast-paced industry like the media and entertainment industry? Even though ftrack is only working in the background, we took on a small part of the role to help a creative and interesting idea from the script to the end of the screens of thousands of viewers around the world, and it is still inspiring to think about it.
What is your favorite thing about serving this role?
I admit I love dealing with data, but my favorite is undoubtedly the friendship with my colleagues, and frankly, working with them can learn new things. Fredrik (Ftrack CEO) and the founding team have accumulated so much talent at Ftrack over the years, it is incredibly that everyone is very serious, hardworking and diligent.
What experiences did you have before joining ftrack?
I have been working with B2B and Software Services (SaaS) companies throughout my career. In the US, I just graduated from college and had the opportunity to participate in building a video-based learning/professional development platform, and later in Europe, I joined Videoplaza and Ooyala and provided advertising technology and content platforms for the broadcasting and advanced publishing industries. I am primarily responsible for existing customers and services, but I have also managed sales and marketing teams. Early in my career, I also got involved in products and even wrote some code (it's really scary to see now, I really hope it can be eliminated from the Internet forever).
What attracted you to join ftrack?
Through overlapping networks, ftrack has been on my radar for several years. And, working with broadcasters and quality publishers early in my career, I have always been very interested in getting to know content production in depth. So, when the opportunity to join ftrack comes up, I'm very excited and looking forward to it. During the application process, when I met our investor and my future colleague, Fredrik, the initial excitement quickly turned into a clear desire to have the opportunity to join Ftrack and make a difference.
What are you most proud of your career?
I have been trying to put colleagues and team members first, and I believe I can do this even in high pressure at least most of the time.
Where do you think ftrack will develop in the next year?
It’s great to work with Cospective’s new colleagues! Next, I am very happy and looking forward to seeing the cooperation between us reflect the final product characteristics. Over the next 12 months, we will move towards a joint product range, bringing new innovative tools to our customers. In addition, as a growing organization, we are strideing forward and recently we have added a professional service and technical consulting team. This team supports many of our clients at a completely new scale.
What are your hobbies after work?
Most of my time spent with my wife and three children after work, so hobbies are a luxury for me now. I have been playing football since I was a kid (European football, if you see me, you can understand why American football is not for me). While I don't think it's likely to be my advantage, I still try to join a substitute game occasionally.
