According to the provisions of the Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Food Safety Law), the National Health Commission commissioned an evaluation agency to organize experts to review and pass the safety evaluation materials for 5 new food raw materials such as Guanshan cherry blossoms, 5 new food additives such as phospholipase A1, and silicon oxide coatings with hexamethyldisiloxane and hexamethyldisilazane as raw materials.
Two new food raw materials approved this time: Guanshan cherry blossom is a commonly used raw material for Japanese food, but the Health Commission stated in 2017 that it still needs to be proved. This approval means that the identity will become a positive one and enterprises can use it with confidence; the main ingredient of pyrroloquinoline quinone is Pyrroloquinoline quinone, referred to as PQQ, is a "dark horse" functional raw material in the field of brain health. Pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium salt is naturally found in milk, eggs, spinach and other foods.
The purity of this declared product is ≥98.0g/100g (based on dry basis). Pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium salt is managed as a "generally considered safe substance (GRAS)" in the United States and can be used as raw materials for energy drinks, sports drinks, electrolyte drinks and other foods; the EU and Canada are dietary supplements or natural health foods.
