But things didn't go as expected. After the war broke out, Naken was forced to enlist in the army and became the highest-level soldier in the German army. He basically did not participate in front-line matters, but just engaged in propaganda and other work in the rear, just like the German army's "facade responsibility".
In August 11944, Naken was incorporated into a gun group and was later captured with 250 soldiers in Calais, France. The captive was Canadian Corporal Eldon Bob Roberts, who, by comparison, was much shorter than the tall and burly Necken, who was only 1.60 meters. Therefore, when the two stood together, a dramatic "height difference" effect was formed, which made the prisoners around them laugh. The field photographer who accompanied the army found this scene very interesting and was caught with the camera to record the interaction between the two of them. These photos also became iconic photos in World War II.
Later, Naken was taken to Britain as a prisoner of war and was not released until the end of the war. Naken, who has recovered his freedom, did not intend to return to Germany. He defected to his sister who lives in the United States and immigrated to the United States with his wife.
Naken regained his old career and began to appear frequently in various performances and TV shows. He also played the role of Santa Claus . The children hiked between his legs, hi-hop and played, calling him "the tallest Santa Claus in the world."
