Most places use volunteer service as the main source of troops.
"Compulsory Service" and "Military Training Service" are based on Article 20 of the current constitutional system in Taiwan and Article 1 of the " Military Service Law " that Taiwanese people have the obligation to serve in the military according to the law, so all men in Taiwan must serve in the military. "Reserve" is based on overall Taiwan security, garrisoning troops with the people, and developing a reserve system.
Ma Wenjun said that if the DPP authorities resume solicitation of compulsory service, that is, to extend service time, the defense authorities plan to allow compulsory soldiers to be assigned to the new training "Infantry Coast Guard Brigade", and their main weapon is rifles. According to the training rules of the Taiwan military, as long as the enlistment training is a qualified rifle soldier . The DPP authorities said that because the military training training energy is insufficient, it is impossible to extend the service period, but the DPP authorities are unwilling to explain to the Taiwanese.
Ma Wenjun said that to put it bluntly, extending military service is to cater to the requirements of the US, but the US requires the extension of the service period and to devote various types of troops, rather than just being a rifle soldier. However, Taiwan's standing troops are now fully volunteered. If the compulsory troops are assigned to the standing troops, it will inevitably affect the quota of volunteers and reduce its combat effectiveness.
