The situation in the Taiwan Strait has been tense recently, and the DPP authorities are clamoring to extend the military service of the Taiwan military from April to one year. Kuomintang legislator Ma Wenjun said that the DPP authorities want to extend military service. To put it bluntly, it is to cater to the requirements of the United States. However, there are few training grounds in Taiwan. Taiwan's military units are assigned to one day of resident shooting training every three months. The service period is extended from April to one year, with only three additional live-fire shootings. The other time is mowing grass and going out to business. Will the combat power be enhanced?

The Kuomintang legislator Ma Wenjun said that the DPP authorities want to extend their military service. To put it bluntly, it is to cater to the requirements of the United States. However, there are few training grounds in Taiwan. Taiwan's military units are assigned to one day - DayDayNews

Ma Wenjun said that the extension of military service is a topic that young people in Taiwan are very concerned about. Taiwan’s military source is divided into volunteer service, compulsory service, military training service and reserve service. "Volunteering" is the recruitment system . Modern equipment such as radar , missile , tanks, etc., requires a long time to learn and operate to exert the effectiveness of the equipment, so the service period is long. Most places use volunteer service as the main source of troops.

"Compulsory Service" and "Military Training Service" are based on Article 20 of the current constitutional system in Taiwan and Article 1 of the " Military Service Law " that Taiwanese people have the obligation to serve in the military according to the law, so all men in Taiwan must serve in the military. "Reserve" is based on overall Taiwan security, garrisoning troops with the people, and developing a reserve system.

Ma Wenjun said that if the DPP authorities resume solicitation of compulsory service, that is, to extend service time, the defense authorities plan to allow compulsory soldiers to be assigned to the new training "Infantry Coast Guard Brigade", and their main weapon is rifles. According to the training rules of the Taiwan military, as long as the enlistment training is a qualified rifle soldier . The DPP authorities said that because the military training training energy is insufficient, it is impossible to extend the service period, but the DPP authorities are unwilling to explain to the Taiwanese.

Ma Wenjun said that to put it bluntly, extending military service is to cater to the requirements of the US, but the US requires the extension of the service period and to devote various types of troops, rather than just being a rifle soldier. However, Taiwan's standing troops are now fully volunteered. If the compulsory troops are assigned to the standing troops, it will inevitably affect the quota of volunteers and reduce its combat effectiveness. The former head of the defense department, Yan Defa , also reminded of this issue.

In addition, Ma Wenjun said that if you do the same thing, you will receive more than 40,000 yuan for volunteers ( New Taiwan Dollars , the same below), but you will receive more than 9,000 yuan for compulsory services. Do you think this is reasonable? It was only a deformed practice that he became a prolonged service but only became a rifle soldier.

Ma Wenjun said that, let’s look at the training resources, Taiwan is small and densely populated, and the training grounds for the troops are very scarce; take the shooting range as an example. At present, the Taiwanese military units may be able to allocate three months to implement resident shooting training in one day, which has extended the service period, but three more live-fire shootings. Other times may be mowing grass, standing guards, and going out to business. Will the combat power be enhanced? Therefore, whether combat power can cope with future wars should focus on how to strengthen training intensity, rather than determining the length of time. (Lin Jingxian/Editor)
