Recently, at the Blizzard Carnival exhibition, the developer of "Overwatch" was interviewed by the media and talked about some ideas during the early development of the game. They revealed that Overwatch almost became an MMO game with up to 50 professions and the background is set at the "crossroads of the universe".

After the cancellation of the Titan project, Blizzard gave Jeff Kaplan and his design team six weeks to think about new game ideas. The members of the design team conceived three ways of playing. Their initial vision was based on the " StarCraft " model, but they focused more on individuals in the universe.

Later, Jeff's design team further developed a new project concept - creating a new world view, with a very distant planet in space, which is located at the "crossroads of the universe", and many different alien races live on this same planet.
At the beginning, the design team considered designing it into an MMO work with different occupational categories, probably designing about 6-9 different occupations for the game. In the Carnival interview, Jeff Kaplan also showed the early design drawings of the game, and it can be seen that Blizzard's initial concept was quite outstanding.

Blizzard's professional designer Geoff Goodman encouraged Jeff to expand the number of professions in the game to 50, each with specialized skills, each completely different from other professions. This idea shocked Jeff Kaplan, but he also realized that it was unlikely that MMOs of 50 professions were possible. After all, World of Warcraft has been launched for more than 10 years and there were not so many professions. After the "Titan" project was cancelled, they also needed to invest in the next project as soon as possible. At this time, Jeff thought, we should not join so many professions, but rather create many characters with different backgrounds and unique characteristics.
