At 13:05 local time on September 19, a magnitude 7.7 earthquake occurred in Michoacan State in western Mexico. Subsequently, aftershocks continued in Colima and other places. According to the special warning issued by the Mexican National Meteorological Center (SMN), after the earthquake, the Mexican capital , about 65 kilometers southeast of the Mexican capital , and another volcano in Colima, showed signs of activity, spewing out some gas.
At present, the Mexico National Meteorological Center is closely observing the activity of volcanoes, and has issued a yellow volcano warning. Communications were interrupted in the epicenter of the Mexican earthquake for about 30 minutes, and some schools and hospitals were damaged.

Mexico City International Airport Terminals 1 and 2, including aircraft take-off and landing runways, have undergone rapid overhaul assessments to ensure that the aircraft takes-off and landing requirements are met. The airport runway then reopened, but there were still at least 10 flight delays.
