China News Service, January 1 (Chang Tao, Wang Yuling, Fu Yumei, Wei Wei, Yan Shuxin, Intern, Chai Xinyang) On the first day of 2022, Xi'an, the largest city in the northwest with a population of more than 10 million is still under "blocking". People usher in a new year in a state of almost static life.

At the end of 2021, a new round of COVID-19 outbreak broke out in Xi'an. The city's communities (villages) and units were subject to closed management and people were isolated at home. But some people choose to go against the trend. 2022 has begun. What are they experiencing at this moment?

China News Service recently talked with five Xi'an people, including medical workers, online ride-hailing drivers, express service providers, and college students. They talked about this special "godials and welcomes the new".

01 "The phone rang. I know it was my mother calling, but I can't answer it."

Jin Jin, born in the 1990s, an ophthalmology nurse in a hospital in Xi'an, nucleic acid tester

December 17, 2021, after receiving the hospital's instructions, Jin Jin got on the bus to nucleic acid test o'clock. At that time, Jin Jin didn't know where he was going and how long it would take to return.

At 8:00 on the same day, Xi'an reported that in the past 18 hours, there were 3 new confirmed cases and 53 new asymptomatic infections in .

One hour later, Jinjin arrived at the destination - there were confirmed cases, Changfengyuan Community, Yanta District, Xi'an, which was under closed management at that time.

After getting off the bus, Jin Jin sent a message to his parents telling them that he was going to do nucleic acid collection. After repeated inspections, he made sure that the protective suit was not damaged. After stuffing a few steamed buns, Jin Jin stepped into a high-rise residential building.

This residential building is 32 stories high, with 18 households on the first floor, with an average of 4 people per household. The first round of nucleic acid collection starts at 4 pm on the 17th and does not end until 5:30 am on the 18th. After 5 hours of rest, Jin Jin and his colleagues started the second round of nucleic acid collection, which ended from 1:00 p.m. on the 18th to 11:00 p.m. After the second round of collection, they returned to the hospital without stopping, starting from 5:30 a.m. on the 19th, to test the collected results.

Jin Jin said that after collecting the entire building, she has formed " muscle memory ". "Picking up the cotton swab, opening the lid, collecting, putting it back, and disinfecting the hand. The whole set of movements is done in one go, which is nothing but brain." Because the floor is high and there are many residents, during the collection process, Jin Jin couldn't hold on, so he sat in the stairwell to rest for a while. "Protective clothing cannot be worn twice, and it is not convenient to replace it. So after entering the residential building, we will not eat or drink water, and we will have to last for about ten hours."

Since completing two rounds of emergency sampling on the 19th, Jin Jin has never returned home, but is isolated in the hotel, ready to undergo nucleic acid collection and testing tasks at any time. As of the 30th, Jinjin has completed eight nucleic acid collection and testing tasks.

In this process, Jin Jin was warmed and moved by the kindness from strangers. "Once an outdoor test, it was snowing heavily in Xi'an. A child gave me a hand warmer treasure and a little poem written by herself. I think I have companions and everyone is waiting for the city to get better."

Jin Jin currently lives in Xi'an with her parents, but since she performed the nucleic acid collection and testing task, she has communicated much less with her parents. "Sometimes I'm too busy to see it. Sometimes, for example, during the nucleic acid collection process, my phone is in my pocket and buzzing. I know it was called by my mother, but I can't answer it."

On the last day of 2021, Jin Jin, who was on the offside, still couldn't rest. "I don't have the concept of celebrating the festival now, but I have a New Year wish. This round of epidemic will end soon, and I miss home too."

02 "Can I help one"

Hu Shuwen, born in the 1970s, Didi driver

Hu Shuwen hasn't had a good sleep for several days. I was afraid that I would close my eyes, and the emergency phone around me rang again.

Hu Shuwen, 50 years old this year, is a Didi driver in Xi'an. After this round of epidemic outbreak in Xi'an, under the guidance of the competent authorities, her company established an anti-epidemic support fleet, and the drivers of the Didi fleet provide epidemic prevention materials and support. Hu Shuwen is the captain of a small team.

Hu Shuwen’s daily task is to schedule and arrange more than 70 people to transport nucleic acid testing and epidemic prevention materials. At the same time, she is also the "last car" in this fleet. "I can't get the transfer, so I'll take it. In other words, I don't have to leave the car unless I have to." But in fact, there are many times when I have to be "unsuccessful". In order to give other drivers a little longer, she often runs some sudden tasks at night.

"We must ensure that we have a task and set off immediately." In the past week, from 6 a.m. to 0:00 a.m. at night, Hu Shuwen kept spinning like a top and on standby almost every day. There was a snowfall in Xi'an in winter, and the temperature dropped to below zero at night. The protective clothing is not loose, so Hu Shuwen can't wear it too thick. During the days when the snow gradually melted, Hu Shuwen often felt the biting cold. But she "didn't even dare to drink a sip of hot water." Hu Shuwen said, "It's too inconvenient to wear protective clothing to go to the bathroom, and she is worried that parking and finding a bathroom will waste time."

After the epidemic prevention and control measures in Xi'an were upgraded, the bustling streets on weekdays became even more deserted. Those who run around are mostly "reversers" wearing protective clothing like them.

They can't recognize each other's face, but they maintain some tacit understanding. At the entrance of the hospital and community, the driver always rolled down the window and waved his hand, "Where to go? Take you a ride." Hu Shuwen always sounded that people in the fleet talked about such a scene, "I can help one."

Hu Shuwen said very simple about the New Year wishes, "Maybe I will go out early after dinner and let others go back to reunite with their family. In addition, I hope Xi'an will get better early."

03 "At three o'clock in the morning, the courier sent a message and the neighbor was diagnosed."

Sun Zhengyi, born in the 1980s, the regional head of a certain express company,

Sun Zhengyi is a new Xi'an native. He studied in Xi'an. After graduation, he "drifted from Beijing". After considering many factors, he decided to return to Xi'an to work and settle down. It has been more than two years since then.

At present, he is the regional head of a express company, Xi'an Hi-Tech Development Zone, and is mainly responsible for coordinating three outlets in the region. The express company he works in is included in the key market supply guarantee enterprise by Shaanxi Provincial Department of Commerce and needs to operate normally. Recently, his phone has been on 24 hours a day.

After answering the interview call, he had a hoarse voice on the other end of the phone. Recently, he was coordinating staff to receive and deliver packages every day to find solutions for customers who are anxious to ship the goods.

"At present, there are few companies in Xi'an that send and receive express delivery companies normally, and the shipment volume is equivalent to more, which has caused greater pressure on us." He said that although some outlets are temporarily closed due to epidemic control, most of them can still receive the order.

Sun Zhengyi admitted that the biggest pressure in recent days is personnel coordination. "Sometimes, at three o'clock in the middle of the night, the courier sends a WeChat message, and the neighbors in the community are diagnosed. The property or community notifies that they cannot enter and exit the next day, so the personnel are more nervous."

Since some front-line couriers live in the community cannot enter and exit, they can only take temporary leave. "The couriers who come out try to ensure that they have nucleic acid tests once a day. In order to ensure normal delivery of parcels, each courier's workload has also increased."

Sun Zhengyi did not make any holiday arrangements for New Year's Day. He planned to continue to stick to his posts with the couriers and work with the front-line couriers to stand every shift of express supply for everyone.

04 "New Year's Eve in the Volunteer Job is also an unforgettable experience."

Huang Li, born in the 1990s, Haidilao Manager of a store in Xi'an

Affected by the epidemic, all catering places in Xi'an were suspended, and Huang Li's restaurant was also forced to close. However, Huang Li and his colleagues were not idle.

December 18 to 20, 2021, for three consecutive days, Huang Li and more than 30 employees in the store volunteered in Yanta District , assisting the staff in nucleic acid sampling. "Every time I put on protective clothing, I have to stand for 6 to 8 hours. I can't eat and drink, nor go to the toilet. It's very uncomfortable, but everyone has persevered."

On December 22, 2021, the Xi'an New Coronavirus Pneumonia Epidemic Prevention and Control Command issued the "Notice on Further Strengthening Epidemic Prevention and Control Work", requiring that from 0:00 on December 23, 2021, all communities (villages) and units in the city will implement closed management. Afterwards, Huang Li returned home from the restaurant and is currently living with his family.

The New Year is coming soon. As a local in Xi'an, Huang Li can have a lively New Year's Eve with his family, but he has always been worried about which community is still recruiting volunteers. "For me, it doesn't matter where you celebrate the New Year or not. In fact, being able to celebrate the New Year in a volunteer position is also an unforgettable experience," said Huang Li.

05 "Eat a blind box package and celebrate the New Year with your roommates"

Xiao Chen, born in 2000, a sophomore in a university in Xi'an,

Xiao Chen's university is currently in a closed dormitory. You can go out every day except for nucleic acid tests, and you must stay in the dormitory for the rest of your time.

"The school has a meal ordering platform, and you can place orders online. Today, you will book morning, middle school and dinner the next day. The school will arrange for staff to deliver the meals to the door of the dormitory. What needs to be mentioned is that on the 28th, the school launched a 10-yuan blind box meal, and starting from the 31st, it launched a blind box set of different prices, including rice bowls, noodles, and so on. We are particularly looking forward to what we will eat every time. This is also one of the few fun in the current 'residence class' days." Xiao Chen said.

Xiao Chen is from Harbin, Heilongjiang. His parents were worried when they first learned that the school was going to be closed. However, after hearing her talk about her daily life in recent days, she felt that the school was safer, so she felt relieved. (China Business Network APP)
