At present, the participating players of our national table tennis team are preparing for the competition in Chengdu. There are 66 teams in the team competition for men and women. The last time such a major international event was held in China was the Beijing Winter Olympics . Even the Hangzhou Asian Games was cancelled. Therefore, from this aspect, we can see how difficult the World Table Tennis team competition is this time.
It is precisely because of the rare opportunity that WTT official also struck while the iron is hot. After the Chengdu World Table Tennis Championships, two major WTT events have been launched one after another. One is the WTT Championship , held in Macau, and the other is the WTT World Cup final , held in Xinxiang, Henan. After seeing this news, our fans were already very excited. It was really great to have three consecutive events held in China.
WTT Championship time is from October 19 to 23, with a total prize of US$800,000. According to the world rankings announced by ITTF on August 23, 2022, the top 30 male and female athletes and two wildcard players each participated, and each member association dispatched a maximum of 4 players. Judging from the above conditions, our national table tennis men's team Fan Zhendong , Ma Long , Liang Jingkun and Wang Chuqin are in line with each other, while the women's team is Sun Yingsha , Chen Meng , Wang Manyu and Wang Yidi are in line with each member association, although Lin Gaoyuan and Chen Xingtong is also among the top fifteen in the world, each member association can only have 4 players, so they definitely cannot participate.
Next is the World Cup final, which is also the final battle of the 2022 WTT Series. It is from October 27 to 30. The top 16 athletes, each of the top men and women, will fight in Xinxiang, Henan, with a total prize of 1 million US dollars. The top 16 athletes for men and women, our top three men's team, Fan Zhendong, Ma Long and Liang Jingkun, will definitely participate, and the Sun Yingsha, Chen Meng and Wang Manyu, the women's team, will also attend. Whether there is a quota limit is not clear at the moment. Perhaps Wang Chuqin, Wang Yidi, Lin Gaoyuan, and Chen Xingtong will also have a chance. The two major events only hold the main competition, only one ball table is set up, and the prize money is the same for both men and women's competitions.
In addition to these three major events, there is also Asian Cup event in November. Our national table tennis team Fan Zhendong, Ma Long, Sun Yingsha and Zhu Yuling were invited to play, but it is still uncertain which four people will play. The main reason is that Zhu Yuling has not returned to the national team for a long time. She left the national team due to personal physical reasons. Although she was the last Asian Cup women's singles champion, she definitely cannot participate in this situation. Her place may be replaced by one of Chen Meng, Wang Manyu and Wang Yidi. Sun Yingsha and Fan Zhendong will definitely participate. Both of them are the world's number one, and Ma Long may not necessarily play, and may leave opportunities to young people.
Relatively speaking, Sun Yingsha and Fan Zhendong have the most next competitions. I also hope that our national table tennis players can achieve good results in the next few major competitions and make a lot of bonuses.
