[Contributed by 21RV] Eating, drinking and urinating is a topic that can never be separated from the development of human society. Early RVs did not have bathrooms. Later, the invention of the mobile toilet became a milestone in the development of RVs, which greatly improved people’s enjoyment of outdoor camping. Nowadays, as new products are getting better and better from generation to generation, our lives have been greatly facilitated. As the "place of reincarnation" for people, today we will talk about the toilet, one of the essential accessories in RVs. We will take Dometic CTE4110, the most common toilet, as an example.
Generally speaking, the special toilets commonly used in RVs are divided into fixed cassette toilets and movable toilets (both the toilet and the black water tank can be moved at will). The Dometic CTE4110 we introduced is a fixed cassette toilet. It is made of It consists of two large parts: the outdoor black water tank and the indoor toilet. The outdoor black water tank part has a locking hatch to prevent it from being lost while driving. The length and width of the black water tank hatch of Dometic CTE4110 are 390×330(mm). It is not large in size and does not take up too much space in the car body, ensuring the aesthetics of the outside of the car body.
Each black water tank hatch is equipped with two keys, twist to the left to lock, and turn to the right to open. When the hatch is locked, the entire hatch has only a small part protruding from the box body and is relatively thin. After opening the black water tank hatch, we found that there is a sealing ring stuck inside the hatch, which will not cause water intrusion even if it rains.
Dometic CTE4110 toilet is made of high-strength PP (PP refers to polypropylene material) plastic bowl, which saves users more usage costs while retaining the performance of the original ceramic bowl toilet. Since the plastic bowl of this toilet is almost a perfect circle, we actually measured its diameter as 380mm and its load-bearing capacity as high as 130kg, making it suitable for a wider range of people. The toilet seat cover can be rotated 180° (90° left and right), saving installation space. The circular seat cover does not affect the surrounding space when rotating, making it especially suitable for installation in compact bathrooms.
The maximum height between the bottom of the toilet and the top cover is 500mm. The picture shows the scene of my colleague simulating using the toilet. His height is 183cm. Since the model we photographed uses a corner-mounted toilet, under normal conditions, diagonal toileting can be done. Get optimal foot and leg room. In addition, we see that the bathroom floor of this car has a sunken concave design. For taller users, the legs can be more relaxed. If you are about 1.7 meters tall, you can rest your feet on the floor. Get a better toilet experience.
There is a gray baffle below the plastic bowl that is different from the pure white material. It is the "intermediate representative" connecting the black water tank and the toilet. When we use the toilet, we need to pull out the baffle, then lower the baffle and push it back after using the toilet. This prevents the smell from the black water tank from returning to the car.
This toilet can be connected to a 12V power supply and connected to the water pump in the RV to flush it. When the indicator light (red light) lights up, it means that the black water tank is full, so dump it in time. In addition, this toilet can also be equipped with an optional 7-liter independent flush tank.
The correct way to dump the black water tank is to first pull the black water tank out of the car. The detailed design is quite scientific and ergonomic. Hold the black handle and use your remaining fingers to lightly press the buckle under the black water tank. Pull out easily.
The maximum volume of the black water tank is 19 liters. In order to facilitate portability, the bottom of the black water tank adopts the principle of a trolley box. It uses a telescopic metal rod design with two wheels. Even if you go to a long distance to dump the black water tank, you will not feel tired.
Before dumping the black water tank, be sure to press the fluorescent button on the tank. The purpose is to discharge the excess gas in the tank first. Especially in hot summer, when the temperature is high, there may be air pressure between the inside of the tank and the external space. Poor, avoid the embarrassment of "squirting" when pouring.
Finally find a suitable place for sewage discharge, unscrew the sewage cover, hold the fluorescent handle in one hand, and hold the sewage pipe in the other hand to pour. It should be noted that special toilets for RVs need to use professional degradants to clean the toilets. Common degradants on the market currently include blue and pink liquids. After dumping the black water tank, inject about 50 ml of degradants, and then mix a certain amount of clean water. , which can effectively remove odors and degrade feces into a state that is conducive to dumping. In addition, other household toilet cleaners and other products cannot be used instead of degradants. This is because the materials used in RV toilets will damage the inner wall of the toilet when exposed to chemical ingredients such as toilet cleaners, resulting in problems such as being non-smooth and leaving traces. , later maintenance is more complicated.
