A one-way car accident occurred on the Suhua Highway in Taiwan yesterday (16th) afternoon. A tour bus hit a mountain wall while driving, causing 6 deaths and 39 minor injuries.
The driver of the tour bus who was injured in the accident said that there was a suspected "brake failure" at the time of the incident. In order to find out the cause of the accident, Taiwan's New Taipei Prosecutor's Office searched the company that owned the tour bus on the evening of the 16th and seized vehicle maintenance and other related data. Taiwan's highway management department stated that the regular inspection results of the accident tour bus and the driver's qualifications were in compliance with regulations.
html On the evening of the 16th, prosecutors from the New Taipei District Prosecutor's Office went to Tenglong Express Company, which owned the tour bus involved in the accident, to search and seize vehicle maintenance and other related information. Taiwan's highway management department also set up an emergency response team to investigate the vehicle and driving conditions involved. According to a preliminary investigation, the tour bus involved in the accident was three years old, the driver had more than 20 years of driving experience, and there had been no major violations in the past.

The passengers on the accident tour bus were residents of New Taipei City Xindian District. A total of about 160 people participated in this Hualien tour. This event was a self-organized tour. Affected by the accident, the Suhua Highway was closed in both directions. It took four and a half hours to tow the accident tour bus away. After 9 pm on the 16th, the Suhua Highway was reopened to traffic in both directions.
