After the Korean War, the Korean Peninsula formed a situation where two regimes, South Korea and North Korea, existed side by side. The former is a capitalist country, backed by the United States, while the latter is a socialist country, belonging to the same camp as my country.

But for a long time, the relationship between the two countries has always been "similar." Especially since North Korea is one of the few "nuclear states" in the world, South Korea will only feel even more insecure without the U.S. troops stationed there.

Therefore, historically, the two countries often had frictions even after the Korean War.

The "Blue House Incident" that assassinated Park Chung-hee in 1968 shocked South Korea's ruling and opposition parties. Park Chung-hee immediately decided to treat him in the same way as he was treated. A death squad was also formed to assassinate Kim Il Sung.

But what the Park Chung Hee government did not expect was that the special assassination team they formed would almost kill themselves in the end.

1968 was an extraordinary year. Tensions on the Korean peninsula have reached their highest level since the end of the war. Late at night on January 21st. It was the middle of winter, and the wind was biting on the island, creating a chilling scene.

At this time, thirty-one death squads sent by North Korea took advantage of the night to attack the Blue House of South Korea, intending to assassinate Park Chung-hee. Unfortunately, they failed.

The assassination incident shocked Park Chung-hee and broke into a cold sweat.

He immediately found the US Ambassador to South Korea, William Porter, and asked the United States to support South Korea's retaliatory actions against North Korea. However, Porter knew in his heart that his government was unwilling to conflict with North Korea at this period, so he did not directly agree to Park Chung-hee's request.

On January 23, the USS Pueblo spy ship was captured by North Korea. After the "Pueblo crisis" occurred, the United States made threats of force while exerting diplomatic pressure on North Korea in an attempt to get the ship and crew back.

The Koreans are so dissatisfied with these performances of the United States that they are ready to cancel the Korean military jurisdiction of the "United Nations Command" and withdraw the Korean troops stationed in Vietnam.

As for why the U.S. "spy ship" suddenly appeared in the waters near North Korea, according to official documents later disclosed by the United States, the task assigned to the Pueblo by the commander of the U.S. Navy in Japan at that time was to understand the electronics on the east coast of North Korea. Intelligence collection environment, analysis of North Korean naval activities, monitoring Soviet naval movements in the Tsushima Strait, testing Soviet and North Korean responses to open intelligence collection activities, reporting on Soviet and North Korean military mobilizations, and assessing their own capabilities.

At that time, the U.S. government was falling into a cognitive misunderstanding that "communism is monolithic." And because they could not escape from the Vietnam War, they were unwilling to have another head-on conflict with other socialist countries no matter what.

However, to show his sincerity, Johnson still wrote to Park Chung-hee on February 3, promising that he was considering continuing to strengthen South Korea's anti-infiltration capabilities and was ready to communicate with South Korea at any time on the resolution of the "Pueblo" crisis.

Finally, in order to appease South Korea, Johnson informed South Korea that the United States decided to increase military assistance to South Korea by US$100 million in fiscal year 1969.

But South Korea did not reduce its inner dissatisfaction because of the persuasion, explanation and military assistance from the United States. At this time, the U.S. military was very worried that South Korea would abandon the United States and take unauthorized actions to "exchange fire" with North Korea.

The only thing that made the United States less nervous was that the South Korean government took the initiative to ask the Johnson government to send a presidential envoy to visit South Korea to discuss bilateral relations. Finally, the United States decided to send Cyrus Vance to visit South Korea.

But even so, Park Chung-hee does not intend to give up.If we understand Park Chung-hee's personality and experience, we can easily understand why he chose to give up after training a "team" to assassinate Kim Il-sung and determined to "eradicate the roots."

Park Chung-hee had been loyal to Japanese imperialism as early as the 1940s and served as a pawn in their invasion of Northeast China. Because he worked very hard during the invasion, he was deeply loved by the imperial army.

He participated in more than a hundred "mopping up" campaigns by the Japanese invaders against the Chinese People's Anti-Japanese Base Areas, and his hands were stained with the blood of the Chinese people. After the end of World War II, Park Chung-hee changed his career and defected to the United States, where he received spy training in the U.S. military intelligence agency.

In October 1948, military riots occurred in the Sunchon and Yeosu areas of South Korea. Due to Park Chung-hee's informant, a large number of patriotic officers and soldiers of South Korea fell in a pool of blood.

Park Chung-hee took advantage of this to rise to the top and climbed to the throne of deputy commander-in-chief of the puppet army. In April 1960, in the storm of the Korean people's struggle against the puppet regime supported by the US imperialism, Syngman Rhee was ousted from power.

A year later, in the dog-eat-dog struggle of South Korea's reactionary ruling group, Park Chung-hee conspired to overthrow the rule of his predecessor Zhang Mian through a military coup and established his own military dictatorship.

After Park Chung-hee came to power, he took anti-communism as a "national policy" and implemented fascist rule over the Korean people. In order to maintain his dominance,

constantly issued some "state of emergency", "emergency martial law", "emergency measures" and other orders to the outside world to implement a rare military fascist tyranny in the world.

He has concocted more than 5,000 criminal laws including the "Anti-Communist Law", and single-handedly established a huge Central Intelligence Agency and other violent institutions.

The Central Intelligence Department has 30,000 official members and 400,000 affiliated agents. In addition, the number of police in South Korea is 60,000, which is 1.5 times more than the total number of police in North Korea during the Japanese rule (here we only refer to ordinary police).

The total number of South Korean puppet troops reached 600,000. In addition, there are 3.2 million "rural reserve troops". Calculated in this way, the total population of South Korea is only over 30 million, but the number of military forces engaged in suppressing the people is as high as 4.3 million.

With a character like Park Chung-hee, he must retaliate for his anger. Therefore, shortly after the death squad sent by North Korea failed to assassinate him, Park Chung-hee decided to form his own "death squad" to assassinate Kim Il Sung, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

It is different from the image in people's minds. We often think that death squads or special forces are professional soldiers carefully selected from the army. One is equal to ten, with superb combat skills and excellent psychological quality.

But the people Park Chung-hee was looking for came from all religions and all kinds of things. Many of them were desperadoes who committed murder and arson. Only seven or eight of them were selected from the army.

Therefore, it is difficult to say how good this team's combat effectiveness is. Anyway, the psychological quality must be good.

The Park Chung-hee government sent this team of more than 30 people to a small island called "Silmido" about 20 kilometers southwest of Incheon for secret special training.

and gave them a special name "Unit 684". After arriving on the island, these people's contact with the outside world was completely cut off.

At first, they never knew what their mission was, but they were able to determine that it was a "special mission" from the military and government.

Therefore, their training content is extremely challenging, and all imaginable wilderness survival skills and fighting skills are trained. The few months of training felt like years to them.

The double physical and psychological torture often brings them to the brink of collapse. Finally one day, someone in the team couldn't help but ask clearly what their mission was.

Therefore, the "instructor" of this team, Kim Soon-hyung, told them that the mission was "simple", which was to raid Pyongyang and kill Kim Il-sung.

Until this moment, everyone suddenly realized that no wonder they were required to learn the "North Korean dialect", many characteristics of North Korean soldiers, and even be able to sing North Korean revolutionary songs.

turned out to be assassinating the supreme leader of North Korea.

But this is the end of the matter. For them, this mission is either a failure or a failure. It is better to persevere. Once you succeed in the end, you will not only have a way to survive, but also become rich and worry-free for the rest of your life.

It's a pity that they think too simply. The Chinese have known this principle thousands of years ago. The task of assassinating Kim Il-sung is not a matter of death, but if it is successful, it must be death.

The cruel training and boring life on the island torture them every day.

Finally, after more than half a year of training, 24 people of more than 30 races persisted, and they became real "death squads".

However, soon, something shocking happened: "The order to assassinate Kim Il Sung was cancelled." Whether it was because of hints from the U.S. government or the Park Chung-hee administration itself changed its mind. After all, this assassination failed to "achieve".

At the same time, it is impossible for the twenty-four people on the island to be allowed to go home. They are under house arrest on the island and are not allowed to go anywhere. This ban lasts for three years.

In 1971, Park Chung-hee made up his mind to completely eliminate the death squad on Silmi Island from the world. But instead of sending killers or troops, he cut off the island's supplies.

These people soon discovered that they could not even guarantee the most basic food and clothing. Finally, these twenty-four people couldn't bear it anymore and decided to break out of the siege, go straight to the Blue House, and kill Park Chung-hee.

In the early morning of August 23, 1971, they armed themselves with weapons and attacked the instructors and sentries on the island. Each of these rigorously trained death squads had the ability to kill the enemy with one move.

Therefore, the battle did not last long, and they successfully escaped from Silwei Island at the cost of one death.

After entering Incheon, they hijacked a bus and forced the driver to go straight to Seoul. Along the way, they passed through the border and broke through the South Korean military posts and police several times until they had a head-on firefight with the army.

Due to the disparity in strength between the enemy and ourselves, in the end, except for four of them who were captured, all the others were killed, and the hostages they held were not spared.

In 2003, the movie "Silmido" was released in South Korea, telling the world about that unknown history.

The "Silmido Incident" was just a counterattack by the Korean people against the "dictatorship" during the "non-democratic" period, and this counterattack will continue until Park Chung-hee steps down.
